Oh wow... fabulous shot. Technical perfection. Great color and lighting so the exposure is fabulous. Grand detail as well. Love the placement of the onions in the frame as well - nice and balanced visually. Great shot. Thanks for sharing.

I love onions..wink. The clarity is great. The angle of the shot of this winning onions is great. The capture of the light is great. The image is balanced and eye appealing to the viewer. Good eye and great job overall

Who would think that onions would be a good subject? Obviously, you did. The repeated pattern of round and striped is almost sensual. Good work with the light and shadow as well.

Nice focus....they are crisply shown and really well detailed. Nice job there. The color is good...natural.
I like the geometry of this quite a lot. I do, however think I may have tried to include the entirety of that central onion....surrounded by pieces of the others but it's a well done piece regardless. Love it when people see a good image in unusual places. Nicely put together Nik.

It is obvious why they are prize winners, symmetrical globes of equal color and size.
Very good camera technique.
Color range is narrow but uniform and the black background gives an impression of a monochrome take.
The DOF is strong through out the piece. Detail of the onion skin is magnificent.
The overall impact of this take would have been greater had you opened up the shot to include all of the central Onion surrounded by a halo of the other onions.
