It is a truly beautiful yellow rose you have pictured here Mike, and I especially like the vibrancy of the colors and how well the rose is standing out from the dark background.
Your photo of it is also nice and sharp and it such clear and well defined details to be seen in all the petals. I also think the exposure is very good.
I think the tightness of the cropping is working well and the rose has got a very good placement within the frame. This is a truly lovely and well taken photo, and with a very good DOF.

This rose belongs in a contest! Maybe you have a slightly different shot to enter in the future. The texture in the outer petals is excellent, contrasted by the smooth inner petals. Outstanding color and exposure, too.

Boldest yellow I have seen in some time.
Tightly framed with a high contrast background provides great initial impact.
Camera technique is spot on. All details of the outer ring of petals is in high definition, the inner rings not so much.
Inclusion of the unopened buds gives depth and scale to this take.
