Also looks very similar to the Asian variety of Herons I've seen at the zoo.

Colors are just wonderful and your details nice and crisp. Love all the grass that surrounds this guy.

Nice shot of this bird. The colors on him are nice and shaded well. The green blades of grass complement him. Thanks for sharing.

I have never seen this Heron before, but think its a beautiful bird. Your sharp capture could be used in a field guide to identify the species. The bird is especially well lighted, its colors nicely emphasized by the darker background.

This is a very funny and interesting little bird, paticularly to be in the species of Heron; nonetheless captured with good lighting and fantastic (super)gold colours to it's wings and detail throughout it's whole body - the swampy background adds atmosphere and setting to the surroundings well - lovely shot.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Fred this is an outstanding capture of such a rare heron. The Squacco Heron is a beauty. They got their name from the Squawking sound they make. The closet related heron is the Javan which I have seen and captured. But this beauty is a first visual other than bird books.
Your focus is spot on sharp, Exposure is perfect as well as eye clarity.
Now here is where you tell me and everyone how you used a cheap camera to get this years ago right?
Which then I say, Photography is not about the tool it's more about who is using the tool.
One of your best bird shots of the year Fred.
Outstanding Capture of a rare bird none of us will see outside of a zoo.
Bravo!!!

What a beautiful little bird. I just want to pet those soft gold feathers. His eye and striped feathers are so clear and sharp, and the green grass accentuates everything about this lovely creature.

Fred,
A beautiful picture of the Squacco Heron it's plumage glowing in the evening light as it waits patiently for it's next meal to show itself. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

Your photography skills are quite exceptional, having all of the necessary structural elements of good art. This piece offers evidence of my assertions with strong, inherent contrast, well-balanced composition and elemental characterization. Very well done and thank you for sharing.
