This is so sweet! I love your title...ha! But it seems so natural for your to turn from your flower garden and follow the sound of the Chic-a-dee-dee-dee and capture this shot! They are one of my favorites. And your have done a fine job portraying it's character with the gentle colors, the bare branches of the Birch..?..and the soft bg. His/her eye has even caught the morning light. A meant to be capture I say!

Thanks for your excellent notes. I didn't know that much about this sweet bird. I will be careful to count the 'dees' from now on and see if I can tell when our Hawk is flying through to try to raid my feeders. A beautiful Take! Thanks for sharing and great job turning and shooting!

They are incredibly intelligent Becky. I was quite surprised....when you think about it they have language....I mean a chic-a-dee-dee might mean 'oh it's that silly dog' while a chick-a-dee-dee-dee could mean 'that very nasty Blue-Jay is back' I bet you could definitely figure out how many 'dees' the Hawk warrants if you listened and watched carefully enough.

The most important thing to me when photographing this little guy was to properly portray his happy little character. I swear he sat there forever while I fiddled around w/ my camera settings....so they are apparently patient as well as care-free....lol At any rate that's just a wonderful review you've given him (and me) and thank you so much for the gold star. I do really appreciate it Becky.

Right?? I could think of worse things to be than a Chickadee if I was a bird...lol

Beautiful shot! You capture great detail in the wing feathers, but the body seems a bit out of focus...maybe it's my eyes, but it does add to the "fuzzy" look. Congratulations on...you know I'm gonna say it, BRANCHING out!

lol......very good Bill! You were the only one w/ that very creative take on my little bird image here. Definitely made me smile. I actually thought he looked fairly crisp....well, as crisp as that plump little body is going to look anyway. Do appreciate you checking him out and thank you for the very FUN review.

A very nice shot in a fine natural setting. I like the light and the fine detail in both the tree and the chickadee. Very good colors and a great catchlight in the eye.

Yes mm....I typically don't have to worry about catching a sparkle in the eye of what I am photographing....lol Was wondering what you would think of my little foray into avian photography. Thank you so much for giving him such a good review. I do appreciate it.

Once in a while one of these cute little birds will come to the feeder in my backyard, but not very often, so it's always a nice surprise to see one.

This is a great photo with the bird sharply in focus, nice natural colors, and a nice catchlight in the eye.

I agree with you that the branches surrounding her create a nice, natural setting.

A great shot of this little bird. The close up photograph to be able to see his puffy feathers. The tree branch gives it another texture.

Nice picture , nice lighting , very good details in the bird and getting the spot of light in the eye to help separate it from it's black part of it's head ..

The Chick-a-Dee, like the crow remember faces. Given time and the right encouragement they well take seeds from your hand. I have two (George & Gracie) of the many that live in our back yard that when the mood strikes they will perch, one at a time on my hand grab a seed and fly off - very shy.

Most excellent camera work to get this nervous little avian in such a touching pose. All aspects of the bird and its perch are tack sharp. Nice catch light in the eye.

I'm guessing around 1/2500 for shutter speed.

The color is accurate and well lit.

Nice take on a common but hard to photograph bird ... B-)) Bob

lol...George and Gracie....I love it Bob and am not at all surprised that you've made friends w/ a couple of these guys. They are incredibly intelligent...I LOVE that. Imagine...if they see something like a snake they will add a SPECIFIC number of 'dees' to the end of their vocalization and everyone else understands it is a snake to be wary of. That's language....one of the things that supposedly 'elevates' us over many other animals.....well well huh!

I would have to go double check but your guess re: shutter speed sounds about right. This little guy was amazingly patient while I dawdled around w/ my camera settings. I swear he posed for me...lol At any rate, I appreciate your thoughtful and thorough review of my little foray into avian photography. Not sure if you saw it but Eileen said "...the flower lady has landed in the trees" ahahah...what a marvelous way to put it, yes? Thanks so much Bob.

When we lived in NH was when I first found out just how intelligent these guys are. It took months but I found a way to coax them to my hand. I remember standing with my hand out for what seemed like hours chirping at them. They just looked at me as if to say "Hey, you talkin to me?", over time I did get one to perch on my hand. Didn't give it a name though ... B-)) Bob

That's a wonderful story Bob. Despite the fact that I 'talk' to the birds all the time I've never tried coaxing one of any of them onto my hand. I may have to try it.

Patience, patience & more patience. You must stand perfectly still, extend your hand with some seeds slightly above eye level. Do not speak. If you can, mimick their chirp, good luck ... OMP

lol...their vocalization I have down perfectly....the perfectly still part may be a bit more challenging. Thank you OMP....I'll let ya know.

I think these guys are so cute and kudos to you for getting such a lovely unobstructed pose with good detail. Usually they flit around so quickly and don't stay still long enough to get a good shot. I like how much detail of the feathers and markings stand out and the clear view of the eye. I also really like their chick-a-dee-dee-dee calls and find it difficult not to mimic it when I hear it!

lol...oh me TOO Grace. I am ALWAYS calling back to the birds at my place. It was actually their vocalizations that prompted me to study some of these little guys in the first place. I swear the little guy in this image was watching me make kindling one day. He sat there so long that I finally went inside and got my camera and when he was STILL there when I returned I decided it was a 'sign' lol to make an attempt at photographing him. He posed for me....too good to pass up so thank you so much for checking him out and giving this piece such a wonderful review. Do really appreciate it.
