I think you captured such nice detail from the center of this flower along with the petals. Your exposure and color temperature are nice and bring out the lovely purple color so well. I'm a big texture fan so I really find the textures you have obtained very attractive.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
The focus is Razor sharp on this and the white balance is Controlled superbly.
Colors are true, details crisp, Placement within the frame is perfect coming in on a diagonal inside your nicely bordered square frame.
Focus, DOF, POV are all spot on here Doc.
Nice work behind your lens ;)

Beautiful shot! You capture all the delicate details in the flower! It's funny, but this is the "nickname" for our tiny Yorkie. We call her Magpie.

What a nice coincidence Bill. You must mean Maggie, yes?? Thank you so much for going back and having a look at this guy and especially for sharing one of your gold stars w/ it. I do appreciate it....oh, and give little Magpie a scratch behind the ears for me...lol

well done, very good clarity, the background bokeh is very good making it appear to be 3d image. As kids, long ago, we would pick the flowers and eat the bulbs at the end of each petal, well done like the exposure and the composition

As your probarly aware Deborah I am not overall keen on flower shots, but have to say this is a good one and quite sharp and the contrast between the the colr of the flower and greenery has been done really good...brian

Brian I am always HONESTLY flattered when you review one of my flowers. I do know that flowers are not one of your favorite subjects so when I see a review from you for one of mine I know you must have liked it......so thank you so much for lovely review you've given this. You really have the best of the best. These are flowers that have escaped my knowledge all these years. What a lesson I am learning from you and your garden. What a magnificent work of art this is. Truly colorful and succulent looking.

Oh you are a sweetheart Mama M.....and I just LOVE to hear that I've introduced you to a new flower. I've grown the pink and white combo and solid white ones as well but think I like these purple and white ones the best....well, this year anyway....lol....I'm fickle w/ the annuals. Do appreciate you checking it out and thank you so much for your kind words and wonderful review. Always good to see you!

This is an flower which impresses with its unusual shape as well as with its colors. You have those features well presented. The angle of the shot allowed to set the focus on the flower center and present the stamen and white petals sharp while the purple parts are slightly softer, but still defined. The diagonal presentation let us understand why common names are based on bird. This view indeed reminds of a bird in flight.

Oh I am so pleased you see that Cleo. Spent a LOT of time on this one single blossom b/c I really wanted to show the front AND the back...the spurs are actually the coolest part I think. I'd get my camera settings just where I wanted and there would be a breeze....lol...and I'd have to re-do focus .....so I really appreciate you having a look and thank you a BUNCH for your kind words and lovely review of my little 'Magpie'

You're most welcome. I don't know why, but there seems always a breeze interfering. I usually get not more than 1 of 100 right or less.

lol...sooo true Cleo. A breeze OR my dog Comanche decides she has given me more than enough time w/ the flowers and comes bounding into the photo! I also have a lot of 'deletes' lol

So true... 1001 things happen, and if not anything else a dew drop falls on the lense... Lol.

These always remind me of spiders. My Italian Aunt tells me they shortened to Aquila with the same meaning.
Regardless a very clean take with excellent results. You frame your offerings neatly and carefully, paying attention to detail and editing, with beautiful results.

What a lovely thing for you to say Ken. Thank you so much. I actually spent a lot of time w/ this one little flower trying to get both the front AND the back presented well so I definitely appreciate your nod to my attention to detail. ... and I CERTAINLY appreciate the gold star as well! Thanks so much Ken...and a pleasure to 'meet' you.

Lovely capture of the beautiful Aquiligia in your garden, Deborah. I like the angle you used for this showing all the intricate curls and twists of the petals. Excellent lighting and focus showing great clarity. Lovely composition. Suzanne
