Deborah,
A beautiful picture of this white centred royal purple Aquigela with it's golden tipped pollen laden stamens beautifully framed by it's green foliage. it's long hollow "tails" just waiting to be bitten off & the sweet nectar sucked out...
Beautiful composition framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

Another beautiful photograph. Love the sharply focused flower against the out of focus background and of course the purples and greens are so complementary. Nice work!

It IS a busy little flower Seshadri....in form, that is. Took some time to get the entire blossom to show well in my image. Do appreciate you checking it out and thank you so much for the lovely review you've given it.

A beautiful Columbine, Deb! Interesting notes...as always. And your captures of your flowers just keep getting better...if that is possible. I think your saturation control of your colors is finely tuned. Your love of the vibrant hues shows...but your detail within those hues shows as well. Your bg is established as a perfect DOF and your subject is clear and sharp throughout. Excellent work with your camera. And more than amazing work with your gardens! Kills lice, huh? I have a couple of vines that are inundated with Japanese Beetles right now....keep my bottle of Sevin ready to hook up to the hose. They are incredibly destructive in a short amount of time. Enjoy your gardens and your weather! Finally! :D

Right Becky?? lol...I remember getting such a kick out of reading where one guy said this blossom was 'very sweet and edible' and the next guy says 'crush the stems and seed and use the paste to kill lice' YUCK!!! Now I'm afraid that EVERY time I look at these pretty little guys that the lice comment is the first thing I think of. lol Thank you so much Bec for your very generous and kind words re: my images and photography 'prowess'. I do honestly appreciate YOUR appreciation very much. The sun is out so as soon as I finish my 'thank yous' I am off to the gardens...lol Comanche has been teasing me for an hour to come outside w/ her.

'Magpie' is the variety name for this little AQUILIGIA sg. Couldn't come up w/ a better title for this image yesterday....lol....silly, because today I can think of all kinds of titles for it. Oh well. Do appreciate you checking it out and thank you for the really lovely review you've given it.

Hi Deb!
'Magpie'? What a wonderfully 'Corvidian' sounding name that is,my friend!
And those colorful blossoms have such an exotic and delicate 'spidery' look to them too!
And,as always, your well written notes add so much interest to your beautiful photograph!
Outstanding,my friend! Simply Outstanding! : )

Awesome! I took the same image today with a yellow columbine. The yellow ones have taken over my garden. Have you ever seen the hobbit columbines (their my favorite). Nice depth, dof and contrast with skill full control of light to present this beauty in a well selected crop / frame.

Well hello there Kathy. How nice to see you! I noticed your wonderful sheep images as I was shutting down last night....will definitely have to check them out closer today. Yes I've seen the 'Hobbits' and may try getting some seed to try them in my gardens next season. Do appreciate you having a look at my new piece and thanks so much for the lovely review you've given it.

Love your detailed description. I have a multitude of columbines in garden and really enjoy them. Wish they would bloom longer. You have done a great job here, with nice sharp focus and perfect DOF on the bloom. Love that you did a nice bokeh background on the leaves. They are identifiable yet not intruding on the subject. Composition, lighting and pretty colors are all great.
