I think this is one of the most dramatic and artistic photos I have seen of this historic structure. And how wonderful that you were able to visit it. It must be an amazing experience when you can find a space of your own and just stop and reflect.

You have voiced that your photo had interruptions with tourists, etc. And yet you have chosen this amazing segment to post. I can see the individual stones and can marvel at the ability of a human constructing this back in the day without heavy machinery. Incredible history here in your shot. Your workers only give it more magnitude in scale. And being able to see where they have cleaned and not is part of this story....of time and history. Colors are true, light and shadows are not heavy but defining and your framing is again..outstanding in selecting this segment. A pleasure to view! Best of luck in the contest!

You surely caught the nuance of this image. When there, you just have to pause and reflect the grandeur of this monumental structure. It has stood the test of time against weather, earthquakes, wars, etc. Rome was fascinating, but at the end of the day we were there, it was an emotional/intellectual overload. One just could not process all of it at the time.

Thanks for you feedback and interest in my work.

I enjoyed reading your artists notes and also find the Colosseum fascinating. I like that your image is telling your story. Good camera techniques are at work and I like your perspective and angle of your shot creating very interesting photography. Your focus is sharp, with excellent lighting you can see that glow shinning on the building revealing such wonderful details of the arches and beautiful structure. This is a fine entry to the Contest A Building in Your Life History and good luck. This is very nice work and thanks for sharing!

Good choice (based on your blurb). Well framed, interesting perspective. I like the inclusion of the uncleaned area for comparison. Sharp focus gives us a good view of the architectural details.
