I like how well the subtle undertone of pastel yellow and pink show at the depths of the white petals. The exposure is lovely and the amount of texture you picked up of the petals is impressive.

Oh you ARE a sweetie Grace for finding another one to review in my portfolio! These lovely white blossoms are gone now for another season.....see....the summer is just racing past! Thank you so much for finding this one...and for the wonderful review you've given it. Always so pleased to have you comment on one of my pieces Grace.

I think your capture of these white blossoms is stunning! You have all of the shades that white can evolve into with a bit of light or shadow or reflection. I think I can even see a bit of possibly reflecting pink from the two red bushes on either side.

I love white flowers in a photograph when it is well done...such as this. I also love B&W photos of white flowers..because I can see the detail and the character of the flower. But you have it all in this shot. The beauty of that myriad of soft blues and grays is stunning. But I think your soft yellow and pink is the key to this capture. They move right into the heart of your blossom...literally and figuratively.

Your framing is well done. A bush full of blooms is not easy to photograph...there are too many options and not one single one that is often perfect. But you have it here. The larger bloom is not stealing the show but only being supportive to those two smaller, newer ones peeking out from under her...almost like ducklings seeing if it is safe out there. You have created a story for me.

All other elements of a great capture are spot on. Thank you for sharing this glorious white with us! Add it to your gallery of framed flowers! Thank you for sharing your gardens with us through your photography, Deborah! Always a complete pleasure to imagine walking through!

awww...how kind of you Becky to wait until today to review this one. Thank you so much. So spot on w/ the review too. Yes, I rarely include more than a single blossom in an image- especially when they're as big as these guys....I really prefer to show the detail of a single flower but this particular shrub was soooo amazing and I tried (as you noticed!) to showcase the larger one in the center. Spent DAYS photographing nothing but these white blossoms...during the day and in the evening w/ my flashlights. So much fun to go this morning and photograph PURPLE flowers instead....lol...OH BOY!!

Anyway, thank you again Becky for the thoroughly excellent review and the shiny gold star. Such a wonderful way to start the FAR week!!!

Ants! They are the bane of PEONY growers Bunkie but I've had way fewer of them this season (all the rain I bet) They don't hurt the flowers but they are particularly unattractive on the white ones! Thank you so much for checking these guys out.....and for the lovely review. Do appreciate it.

This is another lovely Capture of your Peonies in full bloom. My eyes are watering just looking at them ;) I like your POV here showing several blooms, green leaves and what looks like 3 buds.
Your understanding and knowledge of white balance shine through here.
You have nice focus, Controlled Exposure, fine details and hint of soft yellow and a soft blush pink.
Fine Capture Doc ;)

From the Queen of WB the Queen of the Forest takes real pride in hearing that Sange! Seriously, I have worked on the white blossoms more this season than any in the past....under all types of light conditions...and learned as much about photographing the WHITE ones as I have about the colored ones so thank you for that really wonderful review. You're a peach! lol

Well done! Your focus and framing are excellent. I think the lighting could be just a tiny bit stronger, but it is still a wonderful photo. I like how the flowers fill up the entire frame. To me, white flowers remind me of something pure and innocent. I am glad that you have started to like them over the years. Thanks for sharing :)

Thank you so much for your thoughts on this piece cs. Always face that very fine line w/ photographing my white flowers....light, exposure and detail even more intricately connected perhaps than w/ their colored counterparts. Reaching that perfect combination can be a challenge so do appreciate your comments and the lovely review you've given my piece.

You're welcome, I have the same problem with white flowers. Sometimes even when the sun is shining on them perfectly, they sometimes look to bright lol.

How fantastic looking these are. Who would have thought that these white blooms would accentuate the positive in your sweet garden? And a prize they are, for sure. A little touch of the yellow makes them truly delightful.

Or impressed me as much as their pretty red neighbors Mama-M! lol ...and I would NEVER have thought a white flower would be able to do THAT!! Am always happy to see you at the end of a review and thank you so much for the lovely one you've given these guys!

things are going ok, have every thing moved in and in place, know it's just getting a few things we need changed to the way we want, and for me to find new things to take pictures of.

Oh that's right Dale...you're not around the parks you used to go to anymore are you? Any new ones around your new place?
reply by dalebraatz on 22-Jul-2017
there is one about 4 1/2 miles away, my scooters range is about 10. so wife would have to drop me off and I drive home or she comes back, but right now the lift on the van is broke and will take another week to get the part in, be with out it for 2 weeks. but over all doing ok.

Oh good Dale...so there IS one near you. Not as close as the other place where you lived but better than nothing. Maybe it'll be fun to check out a new park??
reply by dalebraatz on 22-Jul-2017

Wow! These are stunning white blossom and captured beautifully. I like that you filled your frame with these spectacular white Peony's. Nice use of light and shadows and depth. Your wide aperture has blurred your background nicely accentuating your flower in such an artistic way. This is very nice work and thanks for sharing!

The composition is good and that's what hits your eye first.
But I see no white., can ban be interpreted, but the only color I see is blue. I think this could be corrected

On MY screen this IS white Sandy....w/ some shadow as would be expected along the edges of some of the many petals. I think YOUR screen may need to be calibrated. Seriously, I would look into doing that as these blossoms are WHITE.

Nice photograph of these flowers. They are big and bold. Cropped well and centered. I like the hint of yellow in the middle of them.
