I love Hen House Boss. I would absolutely hang your rendition in my kitchen. You could have easily mistakenly over contrasted or darkened this image. I applaud your subtle shadows and the soft, almost life-like textures of the feathers throughout. Your gorgeous perfect "spot" for this guy's feet to "perch", genius. Shadows to define his tail side is great. White background, perfect. I can't say enough. Love it.!

Not sure what high key is all about but the scene is cool. The white on white with minimal detail is a very modern look. The contrast of red and light orange feet define the rooster well. Very creative.

I love this one Annie. Your choice to create him in 'high key' is an excellent one...perfect for displaying his cocks comb and his feet. Your whites are nicely controlled. The details are good, yet painterly. And I like your bit of shadow under his feet. Your bg is complimentary and a bit like thin branches. I like that.

Thanks for your artist notes. Sometimes roosters are more awake in the evening around our daughter's farm. And they are watched closely as they often need to be 'hatcheted' (as our little granddaughter tells me) if they pick on...literally...the hens. Only the most gallant of them get to stay. This one looks just that....gallant.

A very nice composition with fine exposure for the white plumage. The red comb is nicely placed and the background is lovely. There is something about his feet that make it appear he is standing on a glass top table.
