Your exposure is lovely, the whites are just so nice. I think the muted lore and bill color really show off the texture of the bill well. The depth and pose are nice too and the light in the eye stands out nicely.

Sa-wa-eeeeeeeeeeet Shot Shadow! Great close up of this Handsome Great White Heron, Love the tucked in neck, fine eye clarity and controlled whites.
Nice close tight shot showing great feather and Bill details.
NICE job behind your lens!

    No... I heard they are in the keys.. I hate going there.. Key Biscayne was horrible.
    You will never get as close to one like here..I never got that close..he is usually hiding in the water in the back.

a great find Eileen: barely more frequent than the famous reddish egret;
I like his twisted pose, showing you his best face;
sharp focus with excellent control of exposure for the white;

Beautiful portrait picture - I love the pose and position he has in your frame - and his eye looking at you - interesting to see his neck turned like a snake -
I think your shot is clear and sharp, details are standing out perfectly - the background is perfect to let the birds stand out in perfection
excellent capture, well framed - perfect in contrast and lighting, well done

An artistic rendition. Monochromatic subject against a monochromatic backdrop!

Excellent details & features. Impressive subject & textures.

Controlled illumination with no blown out white spots.

Great highlights & dramatic shadows...
Thanks for sharing...

He looks sinister with that long pointed weapon. Put a small gangster hat on him and Al Capone would adopt him. Great shot of his pose. The lighting is managed well and the whites are spot on. His beak looks like it has been used a bit fishing.
