I think you have outdone yourself this time, young lady.

Your camera expertise is showing grandly with this take. Why? Because this flowers arrangement isn't all in the same plane. That is truly a problematic shot and not for the faint hearted.

In order to get both of these lovely blossoms in such exquisite detail and ultra sharp focus takes experience.

There is excellent color and foreground light.

The DOF is set perfectly for the blossoms and the greens behind then drops off to a soft and even bokeh in the background.

All of the above combined with classic framing makes this take a true masterpiece of natures beauty.

Super, duper, out of this world excellent shot ... B-)) Bob

I am not sure which I like most OMP...the "...not for the faint hearted" or the "super, duper" bit lol but as you have so generously included them BOTH w/ this review I don't have to, do I!! This is a very common little flower...not nearly as dramatic as many of the flowers I grow and I'm sorry to say some seasons I don't even photograph it....how awful huh. But this season I decided to spend some time w/ it...give it it's due, so to speak...and try to produce a really pretty little image of it. So your review of my attempts has put a HUGE smile on my face. Thank you so much for noticing and picking up on my attempts to make it something special. I am actually quite flattered by your review. Thank you also for being so generous and giving these little guys a gold star! I may never photograph them again w/o thinking of your review of them OMP.

There is great beauty and grace in the simplest of things when they are portrayed with love, integrity and skill. When I see a post that reflects these qualities I will always defer to them. Because it makes me smile and I feel good when I see that there is someone else who cares enough to honor the simple and the common place.

I think people like us see things around us in a little different way. Many shooters I know will look at this same blossom and pass it by, and when they do find that something special their thoughts are usually along selfish lines - what will this take do for me.

As I have pointed out many times to my 'posse', "The mark of a great photographer is his/her ability to make the common place special." That is what you have done - don't you think that rates a 6? ... OMP

P.S. - I would be honored if you took a look at "Glen Ellis Falls"

I am saving this entire thread OMP....there is a lot of wisdom here and I DO agree that these lovely little blossoms are something special....and rate right up there w/ ANY of the flowers in my gardens. I appreciate YOU seeing that too.

Oh I have had my eye on 'Glen Elliis Falls' lol. What a spot THAT is! I am just getting ready to turn my computer off for the evening...sigh...I did not get to more than a couple of reviews despite the heavy rain and being house-bound today but YOUR pieces are first on my mental 'do in the morning list' Have a wonderful evening OMP!

Gorgeous rare blooms in dynamic diagonal positioning.

Pin sharp focusing.
Fine detailed features & velvety soft textures.

Controlled illumination.
No on overblown spots!

Nice perspective & narrow DOF.

Thanks for sharing...

Wow. This is really nice BB. I particularly like the almost silver sheen on the petals. You definitely got two very complimentary flowers in the same frame. The shadow effects of the stamen add a nice bit of drama. Background/DOF brings out the splendor of these two beauties. Great work BB ~ BB

Another wonderful addition to the garden collection. Your choice of blooms is perfect for a very artistic presentation that shows off their beauty from two angles. Great detail on those stamens too. Framed perfectly. Great job, Deb.

And then to have FAR members willing to check them both out....lol What could be better! So thank you for having a look at another one of my flower photos and giving it another wonderful review. You are most welcome. I think you missed seeing my mixed media creation that ended promotion yesterday. When you have time would love to get your thoughts on it. Thanks. Ed

Oh I will Ed for sure this afternoon. Had three days IN A ROW w/ no rain and got really far behind doing reviews....spent all my time outside in my gardens. BUT...it's raining and cold today...lol...so I am in the house for the day and will check out your piece.

Yes, the garden must come first :). Sometimes I just need a break from reviewing.

I just need to know if you give tours of your botanical gardens. All the flowers you present are magical. I have never seen such species except in special places. You have created a retreat for many and should give tours to those who need solace in their lives. Most beautiful!!

I HAVE been asked to allow people to come tour my gardens Mama M. but I had a very large VERY protective German Shepard at the time and she absolutely would not stand for strangers coming around....lol Finnegan passed away last spring however....so I should really consider it again. Thank you so much for saying such lovely things about by gardens. I think my little place here is very special but it's so nice of you to say say too!

I found some of these the other day when I cleared some burning bushes. They were hiding. The stems are so fine but sturdy. Your lighting and focus is good. It would be better if I had my glasses on.:) Good crop and construction.

This is a wonderful look at these Bellflowers! I like the diagonal composition. You have great focus and depth of field to get such sharpness and detail throughout both blossoms. The purple color is beautiful!
