This is a wonderful close-up shot of flower. You have framed it well. Light and sharpness are very effective in creating a lovely capture.Good luck in the contest!

A lovely close up shot of this interesting flower which I have never seen before, I am learning new things botanically every day whilst on here and the sun is shining! great clarity and short DOF shows good detail on the (lower) petals and also the stamen is crystal clear. Lovely bright colours and nicely cropped, although unfortunately a bit too tightly and not capturing the flower as a whole. I like the creative angle you have tried to achieve but it has resulted in some blurring which is a real shame and why i have docked 1/2 a star. A nice shot of this lovely flower though and best of luck in the competition! :)

I like you filled the frame with this close up of the beautiful white flower, focusing on the centre. The dark background with foliage enhances this. Very good lighting. Very nice composition. Good luck in the contest. Suzanne

This is a lovely, creamy white. I do know this flower. I like the perspective you have achieved. You must have been very low to the ground...unless you have it in a pot.

I wonder if your post did not load as clear as your original. My last post did not. Your stamen are very close to being clearly focused...and perhaps you were after this effect. I too like some macros with this effect while others questions it. So I apologize for questioning it. I think your artistry in framing is beautiful..with the vertical frame. Your bg is a part of the story as it does show the needle shaped foliage that defines this plant beneath the blooms. Pretty choice. Thanks for sharing.

You are very welcome Mary Eileen. I can see the stamen more clearly as I study it now.

I just tried something different with a select focus....I don't want to get stuck in a rut..

Excellent choice with select focus - it steers the viewers eye to exactly the point of interest - very good.

The sharp contrast in main colors works very well not very harsh and not reclusive but easy to view.

The angle of your shot provides a sensual impact. Softly turned and alluring.

Some among the more traditional floral shooters might argue that a blossom of this size should be presented in a straight on head shot. I couldn't disagree more with that - May all their camels have fleas!

Given the size of this bloom and the size and complexity of the inner structures an angled shot is essential to convey the personality of this flower.

I am intrigued by this flower. Do you know if it can be grown in northern climes?

Thank you for sharing this marvelous take ... B-)) Bob

Thank you....ohh yes it can be grown in Northern climates..you can buy the seeds. They are about the size of poppy seeds...If you don't dead head them they will reseed themselves and come up again the next summer

This focus is beautiful with it's color being the main focus. the Green in the background sets off the flower. However it does not seem to be in focus. That may be the way you planned it.

A fine perspective on this beautiful little flower. I like the exposure for the white petals and the nice detail in the stamens. The colors are beautiful; best of luck in the contest.

Aptly captured for the contest theme...
Fine floral features & soft velvety textures.
Dynamic diagonal framing.

Selective focusing with the foreground petals being the sharpest.
Tall format.
Subtle illumination.
Best of luck in the contest!
