I like how the light gives the inside petals a glowing brightness and brings out the needles on the cactus. The detail of the cactus texture is also very attractive. I like the combination of sharpness and background softness.

Another gorgeous work. It almost appears as if the light comes from within the cactus rather than from behind. Excellent use of lighting, superb focus and composition.

A fascinating shot of this flowering cactus, with an interesting narrative to accompany it - we seldom see this type of thing in the flesh over here in the UK unless in controlled circumstances, and this is a great shot with great clarity capturing the cactus itself well and the spikes, as well as the bright yellow flower that is positioned well with the light to give maximum detail. Good use of effects create a hazy and slightly illustrated type effect, but still retains the photographic nature of the piece. Lovely work :)

DOF fades to a soft and interesting background bokeh.
Your framing makes a vivid and eye catching impression.
The colors are complimentary and bright, lending to cery good contrast of the blossom against the cactus leaves.
