Great capture of such an amazing Heron! Color and sharpness accentuates the breeding plumage. Just enough blur to the background to give the overall image a magnificent depth. Great clarity on the red eye! Nice find, and wonderful capture~

This is magnificent Barbara! Congratulations on it being chosen for the photo of the month contest. It is very worthy of the win.

There is so much to say about your technical expertise in this photo...whether it be manual settings or auto settings. I can hardly imagine that you did not manipulate those to accomplish the perfect exposure, sharpness of the feathers and eye and depth of field. Your framing is perfection...with the bird off center and with space in his direction of sight. The curving branch in the lower frame is an artistic addition. The textures of the leaves do not interfere with the feathers. And the color contrasts are complimentary to your subject...giving him the stage with little interference. Excellent work! Best of luck!

Beautiful capture of what looks like a Breeding male Tri-Colored Heron standing on a branch.
You have excellent eye clarity, fine exposure and superb true and natural colors with fab clarity throughout.
Nice work Barbara.
Looks like you Live on the East Coast of Florida?

Thank you so much for the wonderful review! I don't live in Florida, I live in northern Illinois. I took this when I was on vacation in Florida. I'm hoping to go back there again next spring. There are so many wonderful birds to photograph in Florida.

Ahhh...the only reason I live hear and put up with Hurricanes, tornadoes and Tropical storms.
I live near several Wetlands and less than 3 miles from the beach. Yes this year mating season was from September to May ..which is rare..

Oh it looks like we have another excellent bird photographer at FAR Barbara.

Focus on this guy is wonderful....he is beautifully detailed...even to that unusual blue beak....and a bit of sparkle in the eye. Very nice. Your image is well exposed and nicely cropped. A well put together shot here!

A heron with a blue beak? I am so envious that you saw this majestic creature. Your photo is magnificent. Perfect focus, ideal position to showcase the rump feathers, pleasing foreground and background...the works! This should be a contest entry.

Heron's are interesting-looking birds and I love the feather pigmentation on this one. He looks peaceful and in deep thought. The camera captured his profile very nicely.

Barbara,
A beautiful picture of the Tri coloured Heron perched in a tree the light catching the white crest feathers partially raised & the turquoise coloured long pointed bill. It's plumes hanging gracefully over it's back while it's red feet at the end of it's long red legs cling to a branch. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

Beautifully captured! The detail in the feathers is so clear, and, the bird's colors are vivid! The shade of blue on the beak is lovely. I've enjoyed seeing this greatly. May I know where it was taken? Thank you for sharing this one!
