Thanks for the great artists notes and storytelling. I like the old vintage car and truck and the old building. A unique location with good lighting, excellent composition and movement in your scene. I like your perspective with wonderful details and good depth of field. This is very nice work and thanks for sharing!

A poignant, nostalgic & melancholic image of vintage cars & an antiquated shop.
Retro feel ...

Subtle illumination lends a dramatic mood of the moment.

Great story telling factor.
Ideal framing.
Pin sharp focusing despite the low lit condition.
Thanks for sharing...

Thanks Eileen, was certainly a great place to wander around and the rainy day seemed to be in character with the dirt roads. :) Mary

Cool,Mary!
: )
As I've mentioned I don't know a lot about Australian makes of automobiles but that old sedan's resemblance to a three quarter scale 1949 Chevrolet readily identifies it as a vintage Holden!
'Good Show',my friend!

Thanks Sean yes it is an old Holden, my husband actually used to drive one like this when we first went out so it kind of makes me feel very old :) Mary

They're a popular make of car, aren't they? GM even started importing some of them up here a few years ago!
reply by the author on 05-Aug-2017
Yes unfortunately costs of making them have got so high that they aren't competitive against the Asian brands so Holden are closing their factory at the end of this month. The suburb I grew up in was and still is reliant on them for employment but as in USA manufacturing is becoming a thing of the past.

REALLY? Wow! That's sad,Mary! GM discontinued the Pontiac division a few years ago too! That was the division that was marketing the imported Holmans! ( They were FEARSOMELY expensive things! )

This is indeed a great looking scene taking us back to the good old days, and you have pictured it so well. I especially like your POV and the nice and natural colors.

Your photo is also nice and sharp and it is such clear and well defined details to be seen both in the old building and the cars. I also think the exposure is fine.

The format and framing is really good and I think it is a very good balance in the composition. Indeed a fine and well taken photo, and with a very good DOF. Interesting notes as well.

Wonderful notes! Thank you for those as the story is so interesting. And yes..it sounds like a wonderful place to wander through with a camera!

This particular capture is well chosen. Your story is good and suggests a past when people pulled up to this building and stopped to make purchases.

Your exposure is perfect as is your clarity throughout your frame. Framing has been chosen with that diagonal movement from corner to corner...again...suggesting coming in and moving out of the town.

Colors are perfect. Such an interesting place! Kudos to the creator and to you...the photographer! Thank you for sharing!

Your last comment in your artists notes says it all.....YES INDEED...I would be walking and snapping photo after photo, which I have a feeling you did, just in order to have them and perhaps to share with friends....or your family,...or even FanArt for contest purposes (smile). Excellent photo...lvoe the angle you took it at. Everything is perfect from the colors, lighting, DOF, POV, shadows and highlights to its overall composition. Excellent. Looking forward to see some more in the not too distant future.
Thanks for sharing.
