If I saw a 9 inch moth, I would going the other way. He is a beauty and you have cropped the scene well. The patterns are very cool and I am sure they are interesting to see just not one of my top 10 flying things to run into.

Wow! This is the most unique moth and your capture is perfection. Your camera techniques are at work on this shot. The spot on sharp focus brings us right into this photo with good lighting and clarity. Your central composition is engaging and a good choice of aperture. Your beautiful natural light revealing incredible details and markings on this unusual moth. This is outstanding photographs and thanks for sharing!

Wowzers! This is the king of all moths, I didn't even recognise it as one initially! A real sight to behold, with its fantastic patterns and brown/orange colouring it looks quite majestic. I'm sure it camouflaged in the trees well too. I wouldn't want it flapping in my face in the dark with the wingspan you have mentioned though!! Lol. A great entry and strong contender for the competition, best of luck! :)

A very nice shot that shows the fine pattern on the atlas's wings. The colors are beautiful and the tight cropping is attractive. I wish you the best of luck in the contest.

I have always thought this was a butterfly, and probably because it has been posted as such on this site. It is indeed an impressive insect, and you have pictured it so well. It is also standing out well from the green foliage.

Your photo of the moth is nice and sharp showing really clear and well defined details in every part of it, and the exposure is perfect.

I think the tight cropping is working well, and the moth is well placed within the frame. This is a lovely and well taken photo with a very good DOF, and I wish you luck with the contest.

A wonderful picture of the Atlas Moth it's wings outspread so we can see it's full beauty contrasting with the soft greens in the background. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus...Good luck in the contest.

If this doesn't come in first I will eat my lens cap.

A stunning capture that has been kept natural and not mucked about with which would be tempting to do.

It has such strong visual impact that I almost fell off my "reviewing chair"...the details have been exquisitely caught.

....and thank you for educating me with your notes....we are off to Japan in October, I will look for these.
