Discarded Lamp

Found on the street near a trash can.

I'm giving four and a half because I think you could do some editing. Maybe blur the background a bit so that the rust stands out. The background is a bit distracting. iPiccy is free for now if you don't have Photoshop.
I wish you luck in the contest.

Thank you for your review and advice. I will take your advice in consideration, but cannot make changes before the contest ends. I left the concrete background to make sure that the viewer understand that the lamp lays on the street.

Yes, you can!!! That was something I just found out.

Thank You! I know I can change any post to a better version, but I cannot do that because the photo is in a contest. It is against the contest rules.

Good entry for the contest. Very apt! Nice shot! You have framed it well. The light, colour and the composition have worked well. Good effort!

The object certainly is metallic but does not look like a lamp to me! Your fine composition grants us a good look at the thing. Sharpness and exposure are fine. Well done and good luck!

Thank you, I appreciate your kind review. It is a floor lamp. The socket for the light bulb and the switch are in the left corner.

Fits well to the rules of the contest. The bits of rust and tarnish really shows the "junk" claim! LOL

The main image stayed in focus and the background is supportive and well faded.

Very interesting old metal electric lamp with switch and old time light socket. Everything sharp revealing all the rusted corroded parts and dents. Lamps like these are very common and have a few. Thank You for sharing.

Isn't it interesting how something that some think is garbage can be transformed into something where some can see beauty?

Metallic yes, and full of grunge and detail. I do like the background as well for it supports the lamp...had it been on grass it would not have had the same impact. The plastic candle takes away a bit from the overall strength of the image but not enough to warrant a deduction.

Thank you for entering this contest.

Thank you for your thoughtful review. Why take the plastic candle away from the overall strength? It is part of the lamp.

It is not metallic and our attention goes there instead of staying on the metal.....or so I feel.

    I will think about this.

A mundane subject given a special presentation.

Dynamic diagonal framing.

Rusty image adds a dramatic touch...

Subtle illumination.
Nice perspective & narrow DOF.

Thanks for sharing...
