This is a more impressive technique despite the non finitio rendition!

We can already imagine how fluid the finish is from the thin application of flowing strokes.

Muted earth tones!
Subtle illumination.
Compact framing.

Thanks for sharing...

Life doesn't sound too easy as a teacher, my mother was one for a couple of years trying to teach children the wonders of the french language she was so passionate about, but they just laughed at it and threw away their books and didn't listen or learn. It put her off in the end and she changed career - quite sad. This is a great life drawing with a cartoon like feel about it, showing the 3 girls/ladies in good proportion and detail, and with good use of colours to accentuate them further from the sketched background. A lovely piece :)

I actually trained to teach German and Russian, so in East London, where I began, I was also treated as a Nazi. had ink bottles thrown at me, etc My colleagues used to laugh /one Irish one Welsh/ she isn't even a german!! /and this, even though East London had blackshirts stretching from Forest gate to East Ham in a double line.. friend there a bit older than me told me, when London was in depression, they offered boys clean clothes and hopes, much as in Germany, where the Nazis went round the poor and downtrodden with food, sewing machines and blankets after the first failure at the polls /2%/The history is not quite as is made out, as Hitler came in because he promised to oust the French after one hundred years of repressive occupation but no one wants to know real history, they prefer silly films made to catch attention. Unfortunately, I came to Uni one day before term started and the only subject left was German so I had to study German and English or not get a place for another year and I was no spring chicken. I did not leave teaching, I changed to College teaching and to English access, EFL etc which I enjoyed and took me across the world. I found at school, those who do want to learn, girls chose french because it sounds romantic and boys, german as it is seen as a tough language . Infact, English is a germanic language I found when I did my year's study at Leipzig Uni and doesn't even have its own space, which was quite a turn around for me, having been educated mainly in England and at C of E schools at that, which see themselves as the flag-bearers for England, though I have to say, I enjoyed my years at school, and my excellent elderly, spinster, old fashioned teachers who were less prone to having favourites, maybe had an effect on the career I chose!! we could do with a few of those now, not these young men who shout a lot, women who go into teaching for the holidays or project people!
