I actually think this is the pistils and stamens of a Hibiscus flower, and not a bottle brush flower. You have however taken a fine macro shot of it, and I like very much the all neutral background. It makes everything stand out in an excellent way.

The hairs on the pistils are standing out really sharp and well defined, but I also wish the pistils themselves were sharper. It is however nothing wrong with the exposure.

The photo is also nicely cropped and the pistils are well placed within the frame. I think this is an all together lovely photo even if I think all parts should have been sharp, and I wish you luck with the contest.

You are absolutely right. I realized my error after I posted. Should I repost for the competition, with the correction, or leave as is?

I think you should just edit it and correct the text. It is quickly done and it would be more correct. You are of course more than welcome for the review.
