Camera technique for this piece is beyond reproach. I can discern the fine hairs on this fly very well.

The colors are bright and clear. The fly provides pleasing contrast with the leaf.

The wing detail is very good.

Not to many people I know would take the time to capture this little common housefly.

I am glad you did, for you did a fine job and got a marvelous take ... B-)) Bob

    thank you very much Bob. I found out it's called a long legged fly and very beneficial to a garden as it eats the pest bugs around.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
OUTSTANDING selective focus on this Colorful metallic fly. Your DOF is superb and over the rainbow dreamy smoooooth.
Camera settings are spot on, fine Exposure/white balance and sweet diagonal Placement.
Nice work behind your lens E!

I have seen these little long legged flies on my raspberry leaves. Not sure what they are, but not houseflies. I like the composition and the great iridescent color of the fly.

    thanks Mike, actually called Long-legged flies and are some beneficial to gardens. Excerpt from internet: The metallic Long-Legged Fly is fast and friendly, eating some annoying insects instead of human food.

Before seeing this, I would never had called a photo of common house fly beautiful, but I think this one really is. It is most of all because of the very delicate look of the softened greens, but also because of the great colors in the fly. It is also standing out from the background in the most excellent way.

Your focus is spot on and sharp and it is such clear and well defined details to be seen in every part of the little fly. The exposure is just perfect.

The photo is nicely cropped and the fly has got a perfect placement off to the right. A truly lovely and well taken photo Eileen, and with an excellent DOF.

Yes, they do. I see green, blue, orange, red, purple... Very colorful and dainty, fragile looking legs. You should have entered this in the macro contest.
:)

a great macro capture Eileen; not all flies are so beautiful: this one has fantastic iridescent colors;
very sharp focus;
I think a closer framing would be better;

This is great Eileen. One of the best fly shots I have seen. The fly is exquisitely sharp and clear with a full body pose. The single leaf perch is the perfect contrast and keeps the piece simple so the fly stands out.
