great color and detail.
Very nice to view with the soft blurred background. I like how you set the main subject to the left to allow form more of an impact.
Well done

A very elegant and simple presentation. Fine digital art! ! You have framed it well. The light, colours and the composition have worked well. Good effort!

I like that explosion of pink that sets off the background into a flurry of excitement.

Your composition is inventive with full focus on stamens of flower making it the anchor for our eyes. If you had cropped off a bit more at the right the balance would be weighted more on the pink...this way it is mid line .

You have also worked the gradients well on the petals.

A lovely piece that has good visual impact.

Thank you for your review and advice. I will take the crop in consideration, but can only make changes after the contest ended.

No, not true. You can re-upload a corrected image just don't forget to click save button. That is the reason we give reviews so that the artists can make changes for the better (if they agree, don't change it if you don't agree). It is allowed.
reply by the author on 21-Aug-2017
Yes I know, that I can upload a different version, but it is against contest rules to do it before the contest ended. It was in a tread at the forum and might be in the Q&A too.
reply by Life is but a dream. on 21-Aug-2017
Hmmm I will have to look that up, thank you. I understood that you couldn't change what you entered but you could change what you entered in editing....that was allowed.

    Here is the answer:

Select your post for the contest and select edit. You can then make changes to your descriptions, your title, most anything without affecting you entry. If you made changes to you image, for example if you get some good, helpful suggestions, you can also edit your image and update a new image. However, keep in mind, you need to use the same image not a new one. Hope this clarifies this for you.
reply by the author on 24-Aug-2017
I know. I have done it with other images. This is not the point at all. The point is that this is a contest entry. The contest rules forbid it. I can change the image after the voting for this contest has ended. This is the answer I got.
reply by the author on 24-Aug-2017
I cannot change the image because I would have to post a different painting.
reply by Life is but a dream. on 24-Aug-2017
Hi, I'm just trying to steer you in the right direction. You cannot change the image but you can fix it (if you want) and reupload the corrected version. This is an educational site and when reviewers correct and suggest you CAN change the image and re-upload a perfected one....but not a different one :-)

Sorry, You don't understand. This is not a photo or a mixed media where the background layer cold be changed.
This is a painting. It does not have layers. I would have to paint it again. I am not a good copyist. The new painting would be different.
There is not enough time anyway, the deadline is September 5th.

Never take you digital art skills for granted. They are a treasure that can never be taken away.

The time it takes to create something of this magnitude is inconsequential. One month, six months or a year makes no difference. It is the end result that matters.

I am impressed with the vibrancy of the color palette. We have a couple of these and you have the shade of the blossom exactly right (ours seem to prefer blooming in late winter).

The framing of the piece is very easy on the viewers eyes. The blossom takes the lead for the viewer.

I do find the swirling blotchy background to be somewhat of a distraction. I think either a more detailed background or a smoother blend of 2 or 3 colors, like you have between the petals at the top of the flower.

Beyond that this is a remarkable piece of fine digital art ... B-)) Bob

Thank you very much for your throughout review and your your valuable advice. I will try some changes after the contest ended. I painted the flower pots at the background because I wanted to make clear that this plant is not in my garden but in a flower pot.

Anice vivid and colourful piece, showing dominantly the blossoming purple flower of this cactus that I'm not familiar with - although here in the UK it's hard to keep them alive if you have one and this may be known as something different. Either way the detailed and in depth attention paid to composing this piece has paid off, as it looks wonderful and proportionately accurate, with the mixture of blurred colours in the background creating good contrast and accentuating the subject. A lovely work, well done :)

This is such a delicate digital painting of an Easter Cactus because of the lovely pink colors. I especially like the fine shine and details you have brought out in the silver like stamens, but feel that the background could have been more smooth.

The petals of the flower and the stamens are done paying such good attention to details, and with the good use of high lights, you have brought life into the it.

I think the format and the framing has worked well, and the flower is well placed off to the left. Indeed a lovely and well done digital painting, and I wish you luck with the contest.

Thank you very much for your Through and critical but encouraging review. I will take your advice in consideration after the contest ended. The reason for painting the flower pots at the background was that I wanted to make clear that this plant does not grow in my garden, but in a planter.

I understand, but most people probably knows. Or perhaps not. LOL You are of course more than welcome for the review.
reply by the author on 21-Aug-2017
Probably you are right, but those grow in gardens in some tropical areas.
reply by avmurray on 21-Aug-2017
I did not know that, but it makes sense. I have seen Poinsettia trees in Africa, and could not believe my eyes.

Hmm, I really like your impressionistic-like style. With the exclusion of the center of the flower it could be taken for Monet's flowers. Well, maybe too much detail. The flower on the side is Monet's? :P

Thank you very much for your review. I did not realize any influence by Monet. The background are other flower pots positioned behind the cactus.
reply by rasmine on 21-Aug-2017
I know, I just thought I was sounded educated. LOL! But really it does look impressionistic.
reply by the author on 21-Aug-2017
LOL. The impressionist look is intended.

Let's just presume by the looks of this, it was finished within 9 hours and 58 minutes!

A visually soothing painterly feel with fluid, flowing strokes.

High degree of difficulty!

Fine features & soft textures.
Interesting digiart.
Nice color combination. Excellent modification.
Visually appealing.

Thanks for sharing...

Thank you for your kind review. 9 hours is an understatement. I am slow. About 50 hours in 9 weeks is closer to the truth.
