Love the sunlight and shadow on the horse. The action of the horse and the sea combine to present a compelling image overall. Colors, however, seem a little washed out. Nice work.

What a lovely action photo.
You got the horse in the air
and it is even reflecting in the sand. Wonderful details of the beach. I know you mentioned it was very bright that day but even so the lightness of the background makes the horse and rider stand out much more.

A nice shot in strong backlight. I like the light on the horse's chest and might try to emphasize that by darkening the image and letting the rider be just a silhouette.

You just narrowly missed getting the horse with all four hoofs off the ground.
I can see the difficulty you must have had with the haze in the air.
Even so the rider and horse have adequate detail, but the background and sky suffer for it.
As it is presented the framing is good, but had you pulled back just a little more you might have gotten the the complete reflection of both horse and rider on the wet sand.
I know I've said it before and people are probably tired of it, but a polarizer would have contributed very well to this shot. Even holding a pair of polarized sunglasses in front of the lens would work.
Al in all it is still a good action take ... B-)) Bob

A great shot of this lone rider galloping along the beach on this beautiful horse, captured in good timing with a great POV and good clarity and detail - the DOF is good and shows the land in the background as it arcs round well, giving good perspective - it's a shame about the lighting as it is a very bright picture, you should have tried taking it during the eclipse, that would be the only way in 100 years you could have avoided it!! :) a great piece and best of luck in the competition.
