swallow tails seem to have a preference for flocks as do several butterflies. Good clarity, good exposure, good bokeh, and good colors. Well done

Impressive capture!
An interesting initial impact.
Fine wing features & smooth delicate textures.
Bunch of purplish florets accentuate the main subject aesthetically.
Controlled illumination with no blown out spots!
Nice perspective & narrow DOF.

What a wonderful shot of this beautiful butterfly. He looks so magnificent against the pink flowers and soft green background. Great composition. Amazing how you were able to catch him with his wings wide open. Good work.

This is beautiful Barbara. I think you have controlled the saturation of your colors very nicely...allowing all of the details in the butterfly to appear clearly. Your bg is perfect along with your flowers....creating a perfect stage for this butterfly. Well done!

What a Great Shot. The colors you've captured just reach out and grab the viewer. The butterfly focal point is a Marvelous idea and he is Perfectly placed in the image. It really draws the eye to the flowers as well. You're background is perfect not to distract but enhance the image. Your lighting is also just right. Butterflies are much more difficult to catch than people may think. I went out and took probably 50 or better shots this morning and they are so active I only kept one. I was having trouble catching them in the pose that you have presented so eloquently. Very, Very Nice Work! Thank you for Sharing :)

Thank you so much for the wonderful review! I agree that photographing butterflies is challenging. Some types of butterflies are actually impossible to get a pose like this because they never rest with their wings open.

A beautiful subject and a very fine image. I like the composition with the purple flowers in both lower corners. The colors are excellent and the detail in the butterfly is exemplary.
