Asian ladies love this form of art work and I was often the recipient from girl pupils and daughters of friends who also wanted to paint me- many are very artistic, but art is not encouraged in their community, as in mine /better if she learnt to work than sit there paintings=dad/ I always let them paint on me, but found in time that I really loved it on my feet, /I anyway have tatoos on my ankles/ especially sandal time, but wasn't so keen on my hands.Subconsciously I felt my hands were dirty and kept washing them

This is fascinating! I've heard of henna tattoos and that they are not permanent. I am curious...how long does this last? I digress! The artwork is beautiful and the hand is centrally framed very well. I like that the hand is outstretched naturally and not turned so that the viewer must turn their head to "see" the face in the center of the palm. It's a nice challenge. It would be wonderful to get this done but I would not like for it to disappear either :-) Nice job!

:):) It lasts for a week or so if you do not wash it with strong soaps etc. It gradually fades. And not at all expensive.Thank you very much for the time, wonderful comments and the rating. It is very much appreciated. It is always my pleasure to interact with my fellow artists.

Lovely rendition. You should enter this in the body parts contest. Very unique and it captures the fine details untied by the Mehndi artist.

what a pleasure Sesha to see a new pic from you, and with a masterful painting, sorry not from you; I am used to see henna hand painting in Morocco, but this is the most beautiful I have ever seen; and taken with excellent sharp focus; should be a winner of this contest;

Quite a nice and interesting shot posted here! Your photo is well composed, sharp and is well exposed!! From your good notes I take it that the art work is not permanent? If so why go to the trouble of creating it in the first place? Otherwise, a very good photo!

No. It is not permanent. it fades after a few days. The liquid is from a leaf extract.

This is really amazing. The detail and sharpness of color is excellent. I love the contrast of the face on the hand. The colors are amazing too - black fingertips, browns and whites balancing the intricate face. So interesting. Good work.

Amazing image!
The intricate designs are incredible.
This type of art is actually becoming popular in California. We have a very large number of Indian transplants here.
Actually, a large group of friends is from that part of the world.
My friend Shruti explained to me the art and meaning of Mehndi some time ago.
Just beautiful!

A virtual 6 rating for its exotic design!

Meticulous intricate rendition.
Pin sharp focusing.
Subdued lighting.
Great framing.

Harmonious earth colors.

Fine features & soft textures.
A brighter plain backdrop would have enhance the contrasting effect.

Impressive entry. Potential voters choice... Best of luck in the contest! Thanks for sharing...

I have seen decoration on friends from India's hands over here in England, but nowhere near as detailed and decorated as this - truly amazing artwork that must take a lot of time and patience, with wonderful patterns throughout the fingers and hand in browns, blacks and oranges, and the amazing face drawn so precisely in the palm is amazing. A great entry for the competition and best of luck! :)
