Great lighting in this shot. I love the way that the light is highlighting the lions mane. Amazing! Well done and good luck for the competition :-)

Fred,
A wonderful portrait of the Lion resting in the morning sunshine that has given his mane a golden halo his eyes fixed on the far distance. Artistic composition beautiful framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

He is a beautiful animal and he looks indeed like a royal of the animal kingdom. You have him caught beautifully illuminated by the low sun. I am impressed how the light is caught in his mane. He is in good focus. His relaxed pose and face impression are intriguing. The photo is well framed.

Wow! Such beautiful natural light at sunrise giving a beautiful glow to this Lion King. Your central composition is engaging. I think your low perspective is aiding in your composition. Superb eye clarity. Your focus is spot on with good details on the fur and markings on this gorgeous lion. This is very nice work and good entry into the Portrait Contest and good luck. Thanks for sharing your wonderful photography ....enjoying so much your shots from South Africa. A cyber six...wish I had an extra star for you.

A very fine portrait of this king of beasts. The backlight in his mane is quite attractive and his lazy pose is fitting for the king. Good luck in the contest.

Well, I keep looking at this and have decided to comment even though I am sure you have heard it all before. Subject matter properly placed off center to make that eye almost perfectly centered increasing visual interest. I can't help to wonder just how far you were from his majesty. The animal has that look of total confidence that he is the king surveying his domain as he just lays there relaxing. I also wonder how many pictures you took before you selected this pose just exuding supreme confidence. Great picture. Reasons for my five vote.
