Nice painting for the contest. I like the highlights on the glass. It's interesting to see her ticket of $3 so we know she is just a child.

Wow. For your first attempt at a portrait there is no doubt that you are gifted with a talent. The basics are all there. Proportions in face and body. Eyes are well done as is the nose. The hair flows naturally. Background sets the scene. Keep working and practicing and you will only get better and better. I look forward to your future works. Best of the best in the contest ~ Steve

Being the first time doing a portrait, I think you have done well, and from what I see I think your great niece is a truly sweet girl and with a lovely smile. I also like very much the color pallet you have used and the background.
You have paid good attention to details and your brush strokes are nice and smooth.
That the painting has been cropped at the bottom is not really noticed, but I think it is a pity that the last letter in "dagger" is cut off. Still this is an all together well done painting, and it for sure is telling a story. I wish you luck with the contest.
