A beautiful piece of work and a meaningful poem that explains the picture very well. Love the red and primarily purple colors and hues. Conjures up thoughts of Dragons and kings; almost expect to see a dragon fly across the blood moon any minute! Lovely picture, good luck in the contest.

ahoy matey
a marvelous piece of digital art. I can just imagine stories of pirates and captains telling tales.
A wonderful story in one piece.

Thank you

Hi, this is very cool and without the poem not sure what was happening here. So dark and treacherous feeling that depicts this work. Wonderful colors and the blood moon is fantastic!

A great, dark piece accompanied by a brilliant short but grim poem that suits the artwork perfectly, creating all round quite a sinister, "wooden leg and parrot on the shoulder" pirate era feel to it of the 1700 or 1800's perhaps. The listing ship by the rocks in this misty scene is brilliantly detailed and accurate, and shows the features clearly as the fog descends - it looks like it's in trouble with that giant hole in it's side!! An old buoy floats in front of it in these grey waters that have that blood moon reflected well in it, and what I guess is some brown and black liquid leaking from the damaged ship. Hopefully any survivors may be able to cling onto the buoy as a last hope - and the full, red blood moon overlooks it all, silent and indifferent, and maybe the last thing the poor souls on the ship will ever see......a brilliant piece and excellent entry for the competition, best of luck & well done!! :)

A dramatic creation with an Oriental flavor...

Fine features and artistic texture
It would have been nice to see the moon's bloody reflections...
Why is the lamps reflection yellow when the lamp itself is white?!
Thanks!

Oooo, this is so cool. I expect Captain Jack to rise up and pull me under. The blood moon is superb as are its reflection in the ocean. This should be a winner in this contest!

Pretty awesome digital art here.
It definitely tells an interesting and captivating story.
I like the atmospherics in this and the lighting quality. Quite well done.
It's a little under lit around the ship and you lose a little of the definition.
I find with a number of my digital pieces I need to adjust the brightness a tad, especially for printing.
Great composition and creativity in this however.
Well done!

Thank you, Trajan. When I upload to FAR, I find that I always have to go back and brighten things up a little. Even if it looks OK in my program, it always looks dull and dark on FAR. This one I did redo... didn't seem to do much good though. LOL If I brighten it too much, I'll lose the mood of the painting. You're right on printing though, it would have to be brighter. Again, thank you for the comments. :o)

Nice poem. It almost has the rhythm of the Ancient Mariner. The blood moon is pretty realistic. I have seen more than a few. The ocean is also quite realistic. The ship is idealized and the rocky shore is faded rugged. Again nice. It gets across the idea that a ship is under full sail straight for the rocks lost in the fog. I also rather like the blood moon's reflection in the lower right corner. Reasons for my five vote.
