Well, nature does have its pecking order in lots of things! Your fine central and full composition gives us a good look at the situation. Exposure and sharpness are good. Nicely done!

Another scene of the Hyena and Jackal that reminds us that in nature Nothing goes to waste (unlike humans). All creatures have their place and their purpose. This tells a great story. Fine work here Fred ~ Steve

I was surprised to learn that the hyenas occasionally chase the lions off of their kill. There are many who will feed off a kill like this but you must wait your turn. A fine shot with excellent composition and a story to tell.

    many thanks mike;
    the power of hyenas and wild dog is their number : no animal, lion or another can deal when attacked by a dozen smaller animals...

Fred,
A beautiful picture of both the Jackal & the Hyena as it finishes off it's meal it's stomach bulging, while the Jackal holds back. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

Great story telling in this photo.
Hyenas are fierce and a pack can take on lions quite easily.
I love to look on the jackel's face.
The hyenas fur actually looks quite soft and fluffy in this photo but I have heard it's quite coarse.
The overall image is great. Lighting is a little bright, but hey you are in the hot sun of the equator so...

This is a wonderful shot that shows survival of the fittest and that nature lets nothing go to waste. One can't help but feel sorry for the poor jackal. Oh well, even in human families we have a pecking order.

This is a n interesting shot of wild life. You have timed it well. The light and shadows, colours and the composition have worked out well. Good effort!
