Wow. What an ominous entry for the contest. That poem is so effective and most chilling. I will have nightmare now. Thanks a lot ; ) A very in your face image especially with those piercing and almost lifeless eyes. Bets of the best in the contest ~ Steve

nice idea, but the piece is too dark and if he will hide no more he should be seen better
good luck with the contest and thanks for sharing

Creative concept. Innovative approach. Imaginative presentation.
Slight chiaroscuro with the softest illumination.
Dramatic enigmatic eyes glowing in the dark...
Compact framing.
Diffused focusing.
Thanks for sharing...

Interesting pic. Imaginative rendering. minimal use of colours against a black background for maximum effects. I wish the picture was sharp. My personal view. Good luck in the contest.

I don't hope so either, but it is usually just some sweet innocent kids on my door this day, even if they have done their best to look scary. I especially like the simplicity of this drawing and that most of it is in darkness. Only the big blue eyes are really standing out, and I like the fine shine you have brought out in them.
I also like the fine textures which can be seen so well in the beak, and the limited color pallet is perfect.
Your drawing has a good framing and format, and those piercing eyes have got a perfect placement. I think this is creative and well done drawing, and I wish you luck with the contest.

A great drawing, accompanied by a traditional eerie poem, well written with good prose and rhyming relevant to the subject; It's blue eyes piercing fiercely straight at you, making it hard to pull away - the beak is crooked and slightly deformed looking, and as the only other thing visible in the perpetual darkness behind, also hard to take you eyes off. Great detail and minimal approach, and well delivered sentiment/warning, pre-halloween! good work, well done :)

Thanks Karen. That's an astute observation! :)

Never more quoth the raven, never more. He reminds me of Edgar Allan Poe's famous poem as he sits there in the dark just waiting to quote me more bad news for this year. Well when you hit rock bottom things can only go up. This is a creepy, eerie, perfect entry into this contest. Best of luck.

Haha, Linda. That's a great spot. Incidentally, I have just added a poem to the notes that I composed to accompany this. You'll see why you are very accurate in your observation if you care to have a look! :) Thanks for the nice review.

My pleasure. The poem is super! Did you compose it?

Yes, indeed. I plan to enter it into the Halloween poetry contest on fan story. Thanks for reading and hope you don't have any nightmares! :) Sweet dreams!
