Hi Deb!
Are these the night blooming flowers ( so beloved of the 'Dark Ones' ) that I was going on and on about earlier in the year,my friend?
This specimen certainly is a strikingly exotic looking thing, isn't it?
And your photo of it is Awesome!
: D

They don't close up at night Sean....I imagine the 'Dark Ones' would like that about them. I know it makes photographing them in the dark very easy. They are one of my very favorite little annuals and you are a sweetie for giving them such a wonderful review and shiny gold star....I do so appreciate it. Thank you VERY much.

Deborah (almost got blown away here last night...lol OMG it was wild. Get you over there in NY??)

there are still schools closed here today Sean. Knocked power out in a lot of places it seems. Trees on houses and cars too. Think I was pretty lucky here....just one soft wood down in my road.

Wow,Deb! I've been hearing all about it on Vermont Public Radio ( which tunes in better here than Northern New York Public Radio does 'Go Figure',huh? )
    I'm just glad you're all right,my friend! : )

A rare find!
At least for me who hasn't seen this unique bloom before!

An interesting initial impact.
Central framing.
Subdued lighting.
Sharply focused fine features and soft textures...

Thanks!

I love purple and this flower just sings to me. The center reminds me of a green daddy long legs. I wonder if you saved the seeds from this seed head whether you would get more purple flowers?

Unfortunately Linda, no. The seeds from the purple ones are not typically fertile but believe me I've tried anyway...lol That's why they're so special when they DO show up. Love that my flower sings to you!! Thank you so much for checking it out....and letting it serenade you...lol

This beauty just pops on the dark background. What a lovely flower, and you should gather and save the seeds and grow them yourself each year. You focus, ISO, aperture are all perfect for this lovely shot. THank you as always for the lovely picture.

Oh I do save the seeds Lynn. The purple ones tend not to be fertile though...that's why it's always such a treat to find a few mixed in w/ the others. Thank you so much for the excellent review. Oh and pm me your email...can't find it and I took that photo.

Oh my goodness! This little dude is all over the place LOL. Love the purple sunburst flower; great color; the center looks like a giant green spider; I like the green grass like things sticking out from behind; good dark background which makes everything pop out. Looks like it is floating in a way. I like this shot. Great skills. Take care and watch for that rain and snow.

LOL...yes, a very busy little flower swimmer. Thought you might like this one. As for the snow I was going to laugh at you but the guy on the weather just said snow showers tomorrow night. OH NO! NOT ready for snow yet. Thank you so much for checking out my new piece....and for sharing a gold star w/ it. I do really appreciate it...and forgive you the snow comment...lol

You're very welcome. I just had a hunch about the snow. I figured it was getting to be that time of year. I know upper Michigan and Wisconsin are getting a snow storm. Today, we've got 70 and sunny. Beautiful day.

    70*!!! awww..you poor thing...lol

I would call it a vegetal green spider, since looking carefully there are 8 legs (in contrast to 6 for insects); another great close up of a beautiful and strange flower.
