An impressive capture diligent worker concentrating on his pollen gathering task for the queen bee!
An interesting initial impact.
Sharply focused.
Fine features & textures.
Verdant overtone!

Subtle illumination.

Tall format works well.
Natural color saturation.
Nice perspective & narrow DOF.

Thanks for sharing...

nice capture of the bee, but the focus on it is very soft and this takes from the initial impact

nice colors and light handling

thanks for sharing

This is a wonderful portrait of a bumblebee engaged in its daily work. The details of the wings and body fur are superb. I like the reflected light on the currant leaf and the edges of the wing.

A very nice shot with great detail in the bumblebee's "fur". The composition is attractive and the colors are outstanding. All my local bugs are in hibernation and a good many of the birds have moved south. We can all look forward to the spring.

    Mike,
Thanks a million for your complementary review on this Bumble Bee that I took last June ...most of the Bumble bees have either died or gone into hibernation this year. We are forecast a VERY cold winter this year...I just hope they are WRONG...Ireland can't cope with snow that lasts more than one day!!

I like how the bubble effect magnifies the leaves and that you can barely tell that the bubble is there. It looks good with the bee. You captured amazing detail of his fuzzy texture and the definition of his wings. The exposure is also very nice.

A fine and enjoyable nature photo posted here! Your good full and central composition allows us a good look at the and it's surrounding leaves. Your good camera settings provide us with great enjoyable detail to savour. Nicely done!

Wow! Those are quite different from the Bumble Bees we have where I live. Thank you for Sharing I find them Fascinating! The Color is different but Beautiful! His hairs are so Thick for Winter and have a Velvet Appearance! I like this Point of View. At this Angle we get a Different Perspective. Great Depth of Field! Lighting is Excellent! Clarity is Nice as Well! I really like that you get that side glimpse of his eye. I have found their eyes can be shaped quite differently. Great Artist Notes! I did not notice at first that the bee was inside the Sphere. That is a Neat Effect I have not seen before. Your Framing works well with the Sphere Addition! Very Nice Work Susan! Thank you for Sharing ;)

    Lisa,
Thanks a million for your complementary review on this Bombus Terrestris Bumble Bee collecting nectar & pollen from the Blackcurrant flowers. It was taken in June this year. They are still flying around but fewer & fewer each day as it gets colder & the days shorter. It's dark at just after five pm.at the moment next month it will be dark after 4 pm. Until about mid January when we can see the days getting longer.

Wow! I had no idea their hair was so Thick in June! That's pretty Amazing! Now, come to think of it the Bumble Bees here actually may appear bushier in the Summer months as well. I have one that has been drenched from rain and almost appears to be in Shock. He has slept on the same flower for 3 days and nights now. Only moving slowly to reposition himself.
