Nice image! The silhouettes of the trees against that dramatic sky make a lovely picture indeed. I sort of wish that the trees reached all the way to the left side of the frame but no matter, very nice work in any case.

Thanks a million for your review.
It was half a mile away at full zoom so I could not crop any more without loosing fous.

Interesting color of the skyline with the clouds being quite dramatic against the silhouetted trees and although the clouds are predominant I think personally I would have cropped a little of them out to bring the trees in closer. :) Mary PS Most unusual to see vivid blue sky in Ireland :) :) :)

    Mary.
Thanks a million for your complementary review. I could not crop any further without loosing focus..it was taken at full zoom at a distance of about half a mile away from the trees. You are wrong to say it's unusual to see a blue sky in Ireland... What is unusual for it to last all day before some clouds start to race across the heavens & then without notice depart leaving a clear blue sky for a few more hours. This morning it was bitterly cold with a brilliant blue sky until the evening when the temperature rose the sky clouded over & rain fell at least it was not show that was forecast.

Hahaha we had some brilliant weather in 2006 summer when we went to Ireland in fact our whole 3 months in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland (North and South) we only had about 5 days of rain - possibly why we haven't pushed our luck to go back :) :)

Beautiful shot.
I love the silhouetted trees against the cerulean sky.
Very beautiful scene.
The long panorama works quite well here.
This would make a nice wall print.

here we go again, susan. i've just message the powers who be here at FAR asking about the issuing of a six star rating. seems you'd get one from me quite often. this is another beauty, and that foreground carries plenty of detail.

I like the concept of this, love the trees on the hill, but and sorry to say about the but,,,I find too much sky,,this is really all I see ,,I would prefer it to be cropped to really showcase the trees on the hill

Thank you. the sky was part of the picture the trees were about half a mile away so I could not zoom in any further.

Way to break the rule of thirds in this shot. The sky is so beautiful it deserves to get that much attention. The line of trees in silhouette really pop. You have a few dirt specks that you could remove in Photoshop. A problem I always have to fight with. Lovely shot.

You're quite right in saying (quote!) that this piece shows "Distant trees on the brow of a distant hill" - It's probably one of the best (I'm going to say British to make it geographically more understandable for me, I know you're Irish and this photo isn't in Britain! ;) ) long distance silhouette pictures I've ever seen, you do have a little bit of the irish luck or a little leprechaun gives you a totally magnificent photo that are extra special. lol. The colours of the flora and brow that make the fore of the shot are good clarity, and the huge looming clouds filling the blue sky give great perspective to the rest of the piece, which in these types of shot are often quickly labelled "dead space" and "needing more cropping" and don't always get a fair press. Anyway there are 3 creatures these could be easily be mistaken from this long distance shot that all sprung to mind straight away (try to forget what this incredible artistic photo you have kindly presented to us a picture - A:Elephants in the desert B: Dinosaurs
C: A rare forest people (some bunched up together and different sizes/ages). But it certainly if an amazing piece, with great lighting, composition and great POV, very well done indeed Susan :)

    Ed,
Thanks a million for your great review & the most welcome SIX Star rating.
Those who do not live in God's own County or Ireland do not always see the beauty to be seen in an over cast or cloudy sky, they don't know what they are missing. Thanks again you made my day.

First of all Susan I want to sincerely apologize. I should have waited for Sunday when my supply of 6 stars is replenished. I perhaps should have waited to review this purely artistic scene. I am compelled to respond to what this scene says. Because of you and those few others, I am learning to see the truly sublime and artistic in a scene. A scene where less is more and few is the greater. There is something about this scene that I realize only one who can see beyond seeing is capable of capturing. Knowing your experience and insight I can see this is so much more than an accidental capture. Perhaps it is because I am listening to classic guitar music as I write this yet I can see and appreciate the clouds and their prominence, the hill with the trees it nurtures, and the rolling hill leading up to that which is so well rendered here.

Enough of my rambling thoughts. Kudos Susan ~ Steve
