Your framing of this is very nice Steve. The colors are attractive and I like that the even the color of the bird stands out. The misty softness of the scene against the textures of the landscape is also appealing.

Thank you for your thoughts Grace. Yellowstone is one of my favorite places as it is so primordial. I was fortunate to capture this Bluebird above the ancient hot pool. Thank you again Grace ~ Steve

Good Morning IPhone 7

Great initial impact and original thought. This is the kind of scene I sometimes walk right by and then regret it later on. Good composition and image content. That bird is so small as a percentage of the total image and yet it commands attention.

The colors in this image are beautiful. And I really like the stark tree. The foreground with its misty feel is great. It feels like there is a ground fog on top of the ground. This is the kind of story image you would like to just walk around and enjoy.

Well done

Roger

Aesthetic capture with a tall format framing.

Innovative rendition.

Soft silhouette set against twilight's last gleaming on that horizon.
Steamy backdrop overtone accentuates the image aesthetically.

Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful background colors to offset the starkness of the tree with the bluebird perched perfectly on top.Very dramatic;life in the midst of devastation.

You definitely captured an ethereal and mystic look w/ your filter work BB. You have come a long way in that area. The background is gorgeous.

It's a wonderful and perhaps a bit more interesting sort of entrant for this contest. Your trees are very well detailed. I love the gnarly look they all have. Your little blue bird is equally well presented sitting atop the tallest ones. I like the colors in the sky but what I REALLY like are the colors of the ground/pools in lower 1/3 of your image. Tall vertical format was the way to go....so nicely cropped and well exposed to boot.

So good job BB 'pushing the button' as you said...lol but your after the push work is what has made this image. Best of luck w/ it in the contest and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

BB

Thank you BB. I do not expect this to even compete. Simply an image for those who wish to see.

Not compete? Don't be silly BB....bet it'll be the most interesting entrant in the contest.

I think this is a beautiful scene, and I especially like the filters you have used. I think you have achieved exactly what you were after. It is such lovely colors to be seen in the sky and the dead tree is standing out so well from the background. The bird of course adds both beauty and interest.

Your photo is sharp and soft at the same time, and it is lovely the way the light is falling on the ground on the right side.

I also like very much the way you have cropped the photo, and the dead tree has got a perfect placement within the frame. Indeed a beautiful and well taken photo Steve, and with an excellent DOF. I wish you luck with the contest.

Thank you so very much Annie for your most insightful and detailed review. I am so glad that you see what I was attempting to achieve. To be honest I really don't think the scene has much of a chance in the contest as I chose to push the boundaries and not go with the standard close up of a bird standing or flying. Yet that is OK. I am going for a more artistic feel in my works now and to me that is what is important. The fact that you find it nice enough to review is such a plus. Thanks again Annie ~ Steve

I think you are right. Most people expect to see a close up of a bird in contests like this. But this is still a beautiful photo, and you are more than welcome for the review.

What a wonderful almost silhouette of this blue bird, there is just enough colors in the bird to make out details, love the tree and the background also makes to image stand out. A pleasure to look at. Thank you for sharing. Dale
