Indeed a perfect balance Eileen, and I especially like how the wings of the dragonfly are standing up. It is also standing out really well from the nicely softened background. I do however the right part of the photo is a bit too busy.
Your focus on the dragonfly is very good and it is sharp and well defined details to be seen in every part of it. It is nothing wrong with the exposure either.
The dragonfly has got a very good placement within the frame, and this of course makes for a well balanced composition. I think this is a lovely and well taken photo with a good DOF, and I wish you luck with the contest.

Love the lighting in this. The dragonfly appears to be suspended on the needle point of the leaf and creates a most interesting scene. Best wishes in the contest.

I really like the green in the back ground and how only the subject is in focus, the yellows and greens always work well together. This picture would translate to an oil pastel nicely.
