Interesting shot here. Love the mix of textures. Nicely composed. I think your shot would benefit fro a touch more contrast, perhaps go into levels and move your white and black points? And perhaps a very slight vignette to draw the eye in? Just suggestions, a nice shot.

An interesting feature and snapshot of this eerily historic, osteologic relic, hung like a surplus hunting trophy, or simply out of the way of the trodden path. Captured with good clarity and with good contrast and balance in the B&W style, and cropped neatly with the skull and antlers tucked into this old wooden barn ladder. A well balanced, slightly mysterious and sinister piece, well captured and a great entry for the competition, best of luck! :)

Fair enough, I was about to "buck" myself into bed anyway as it's getting late :)

No "bones"about it,it is getting late;I'm not so "hart"less to deny you sleep! :)
reply by El-mundo on 06-Jan-2018
I could argue and say I've already used "bone" so that doesn't count; but I'd hate to "lock horns" with you so I'll let that one go ;)

Oh this is a really Nice one LeeAnn. I love the gray black and white rendering. The gray tones give such a sense of the old and weathered. The antlers, a stark slightly gray white, immediately draw the eye. Very well done LeeAnn and a wonderful entry for the contest. Best of the best to you ~ Steve

Steve-thanks so much for your wonderful review,I'm glad you like it;it is the only skull shot that I didn't set up,I too loved the contrast between the skull and the weathered timbers. Many thanks again!

Well given it's present location it can't avoid getting weathered! Your fine composition gives us a good look at the situation. Sharpness and exposure are good. Well done and good luck!

First and foremost, I LOVED YOUR ARTIST'S NOTES. What a poem and what a great introduction to this piece.

This has all the elements that make a fine ......fine art photograph.

Simple and stong with focal point clearly seen, hanging on a seasoned ladder with weathered boards behind. A story is born here (and your notes help as well).

I am impressed with your black and white rendition of this for it is well zoned, meaning there is black to white with a great varying of gray tones. Did you know that there are approximately 256 tones of gray! ! ! ?

Placing it into a long vertical as you have begs our eyes to scroll. You are telling our eyes to look from bottom to top and we do and as we journey on in this visual sojourn the depth and value of story can further be seen.

I do feel this is worthy of 6 stars.
