This is a great view! I like how you caught a group of deer in an open area without anything obstructing their bodies. The poses are cute with all the attention they are giving you and how the one just keeps on grazing :)

Jack, you have an eye for photo composition. And that is a good thing to have in your photo tool box. Photo Composition, believe it or not, is the toughest aspect to get a hold of in photography.

If you are really serious about taking good photos, you need to explore the technical capabilities of your camera.

You said you used "clarity" to clear up the shot. That goes just so far. If, as in this case, the Depth Of Field (DOF) is set to focus in the near area - ie the two deer in the foreground, then the background deer will be out of focus. If this photo op should present itself again, 'stop the lens down'. What in the world does that mean? Adjust the aperture setting to a higher number, say f/18 - f/24. Consult the cameras manual on how to do this - it is simple.

Lastly - one of the best ways to get better is to read. Get a copy of Jeff Wignalls book Exposure: Photo Workshop. You can get it online from Amazon. It is marvelous because it is written in plain English and covers all aspects of Photography. If you only have one book in your photo library this should be the one ... B-)) Bob

I too, love too see those fawns in the Spring. Last Spring a Mama had 2 and every evening she would bring them to my backyard. I so enjoyed it! Presentation is nice. Contrast and lighting work well as black and white. Great shot! Thanks for sharing.

A very nicely composed shot. I like the way the deer are spaced in the scene as well as the way they stand out from the simple background. A nice black and white with a good range of tones. Best wishes in the contest.

Sounds like photographing deer is a very real passion of yours! The one you display here it is quite good. It is well composed, sharp and has reasonable exposure. Well done and good luck!

This is a good photo for the Black and White photo contest. Who does not like deer? Nice composition. Why did that rightmost deer decide to eat at this moment. Would have been nice it it was looking at the camera like the others. Nice composition and framing. Thank you for sharing and best of luck with this image

Jack,
A beautiful picture of these three does & a stag looking up a you apart from the one busy grazing, they are beautiful animals, did you capture them in your headlights? Beautiful natural composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera & editing techniques & razor sharp focus.
Good luck in the contest.
Susan
