I am going to review this even though it deserves one of those Houdini sixes that just seem to disappear...at least mine do.

I think this is absolutely stunning in every way... The initial impact for me is of course the largest bloom. But truly what I like to absorb in a squint...which I do to most photos...squint and see what flows together and what doesn't...anyway...Your entire frame is perfection...with spacing, with colors, with dof, with light and shadows and with that gentle lighter corner in the upper left suggesting that the flower all should face that direction. And that is where the large one is turning. This composition is just so alive... I don't know how else to describe what I feel when I view this. I am going to thank you in advance for posting your beautiful flowers during the winter. They do give me such a boost. And I cannot imagine what they do for you during your heavy winters! They are you life blood many days, I imagine...your photos I mean. Do you have any plants in the house in the winters? Thanks again Deb... a Framer for sure!

I put all my favorite pieces on my rolling screen saver Becky and you're exactly right...those flower pieces get me through the winter FOR SURE! ...and YES YES YES have plants in the house....lots of them- even some flowering ones. Thank you so much for giving this piece such a great review. This one is one of my favorites. Going to get a calendar page next year definitely!

A very unusual, dramatic, and creative composition! The lighting is perfect to showcase the largest blossom, and the lighter violet color contrasted with the darker immature blossoms makes for a really interesting picture.

Wow! A virtual 6 for color, clarity, charm & overall impact.
An interesting name.
Amazing bud color different. From the full bloom.

Breezy presentation.
Impressive framing without any buds cropped!

Nice perspective & narrow DOF.

Thanks for sharing...

If someone should ever ask me , "What do you mean the colors pop?" I will refer them to this take. POP is an under statement here. The colors are so rich and clean they remind me of decorative floral patterns found on fine china and porcelains.

I only need to read 10 more of your collegiate level artist notes and I will all completed my required reading for the Horticulture 101 course I am enrolled in - yeah!

Seriously folks, the quality of this image is absolutely superb - I love the definition and color palette.

Excellent aperture choice. Expertly controlled DOF.

You framed this composition flawlessly. The positioning of the large blossom gives the take a 3D effect.

I have reviewed a lot of your work and I will say without reservation this one your best ... OMP

awwww. You are not only most kind OMP but your reviews are some of the most well done on the site. Did laugh at the Horticulture 101 bit although I believe you know as much about flowers as I do. Anyway, let me thank you for a comprehensive and well done review which I appreciate more than you know....as well as the gold star AND your very kind thoughts. I LOVE this piece and am deeee-lighted it met w/ YOUR approval!

Asters are truly lovely and so easy to grow. I like how this one isn't fully open, and how lovely the light is falling on it. I also like a lot that you have included all the buds in the background. This one must be an opportunist, while the rest are hesitating. LOL

The softness of the background makes the flower stand out in an excellent way, and your focus is spot on and pin sharp. It is indeed clear and well defined details to be seen in the dancing petals, and the exposure is perfect.

I like the way you have cropped the photo and the placement of the flower off to the left and the format. This of course makes for a good and well balanced composition. Indeed a beautiful and well taken photo Deborah, and with a very good DOF.

Oh your best line AV- "This one must be an opportunist, while the rest are hesitating." I love it....and of course, you're right. There were so many of the little unopened buds that day I couldn't have begun to count them. Thank you so much for having a look at this one and for taking the time to do up one of your most excellent reviews. I do really appreciate it AV.

A quite beautiful nature shot presented here consisting of many pretty buds and one gorgeous flower. Your composition nicely uses the buds to draw the eye to the bloom. Sharpness and exposure are good. Nicely done!

This is beautiful and would look good hanging on anyone's wall. The bright purple tones pop against the green background. I like the POV and how the flower on the far left is sharply focused and full of detail. The focus fades away from the main flower. I just find this peaceful to look at it as it displays such beauty.
