Thank you, Susan for continuing to educate us on birds. I enjoy seeing the various species and the differences in the plumage by gender for each. Nice composition and framing. It is probably an optical illusion, but the female appears to be light purple. Thank you for sharing and best of luck with this image

Pamela,
Thanks a million for your review.
It's is an optical illusion of yours she is brown with a slightly paler spotted throat breast when the light shines on it.

Marsha,
Thanks a million for your complementary review on these Blackbirds male & female. I was always interested in Birds as a child living on a Farm where there were plenty of them around us. I was given an expensive Binoculars aged 14 & to make sure I used them my Mother made me keep a Diary of all the birds I'd seen each day, checking in the Bird Book if I did not recognise them so I'd learn...the interest has remained with me. Blackbirds are one of the most common garden birds in The British Isles. The male with his jet black plumage & egg yellow beak is easy to see & recognise at a distance his song is beautiful too.
The female as you can see it less noticible with her brown plumage so she can sit on the nest unnoticed by other birds of prey etc. In some lights her breast almost has a red hue to it similar to her cousin your American Robin.

You're welcome Susan, and thank you for all of your wonderful knowledge about birds.
If I ever need to, I know who to ask!
Thanks for all the info.

Very nice collage of these three blackbirds. Each photo by itself is well framed, and a nice composition full of interesting details. I think I love the photo on the left the best. Nice work, Susan.

Karen,
Thanks a million for your complementary review on the male & female Blackbirds.
The one you liked reminded me of your American Robin when seen in the shade under a tree.
Sometimes in certain lights their brown plumage can have a red glow.

Lovely collage, Susan, showing the male and female Blackbirds. Poor little female at the bottom with the damaged foot but glad that it doesn't seem to bother her. I like how you set these out against the green background. Very good lighting and focus. Lovely composition. Suzanne

Suzanne,
Thanks a million for your complementary review on these Blackbirds. I contacted Birdwatch Ireland about the foot & I was told birds can manage quiet well with just one foot & this birds was not in pain. They thought I might have been born that way, as a child might be born with a Club foot but be otherwise perfect.

Sandra,
Thanks a million for your great review on the male & female Blackbird..the top & bottom were taken in the Park NO GLASS between us & the female was just six feet away. After you requested a picture of the female I searched through my archives to find these.

This is a good presentation. I like seeing both the male and female. I didn't know the female had such nice colors that show really well in the front view shot of her.
