I love this style of painting. The wash technique looks so beautiful with gentle overflow and merging of pigments. The slat technique gives it interesting textures. The black lines nicely define the spaces. Well done!

You know of course that I had to look up Paua Shells - this is a wonderful artistic representation. Great movement over the frame with such wonderful natural color. I bet the grandchildren had a wonderful time!!! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks so much, Debi, for your very nice review. The watercolours didn't actually come out as bright as they are on the original painting to I'm very pleased you like this. Suzanne

Another beauty Suzanne! I love the colors, they all blend together so well. To me this looks like a topographical map or maybe some islands. It causes one to use their imagination. Well done.

Thanks so much, David, for your lovely review. Yes, I thought it looked rather like a map, too! The colours being watercolours don't actually upload as strong as they are in the actual painting so I'm very pleased you like this. Suzanne

This is such an interesting technique and your results are always so attractive. I like the sparkling effect and all the shades of blue. I think your colors and the shine are very reminiscent of abalone.

I love the color blue so this works for me Suzanne. I like the soft blending of blues and green as well as the abstract like shapes.
It is evokes a mood of quiet and beauty which calms the soul by viewing it.
Nice work ;)

I do remember seeing abalone shells on the beaches of Santa Barbara. This does look like them. They became endangered here anyway. Not sure about elsewhere. It is illegal to eat abalone here. I did eat it as a kid. Very thin slices in a sandwich. Nice creation, colors. Nice framing. Thank you for sharing and best of luck with this image
