The mere contemplation of yet another senseless act of mayhem and murder of innocents sickens, saddens and drains my soul.

Who can tell but God, what we may have lost in these 17 souls. Maybe one of them might have become our greatest President or a Congressional Representative who cares more for his/her constituents than their pocket or perhaps an honorable Senator.

The sad truth is after this latest of horrors has cycled through the media nothing will change - it will only continue.

In response our government will condemn this act of horror, take half hearted ineffective action and host a media event on the steps of the capitol and proudly thump their chest with their landmark legislation.

But we all know the truth - everyone of them is owned by the NRA and they do not want that blood money to stop flowing into thier cofers.

Enough!

If you had posted this striking B&W for any other reason - I would have opened this dialogue with TAKE ME O LORD, FOR I HAVE SEEN IT ALL, FOR DEB HAS GONE B&W.

A 6 for a take that is appropriate, heartbreaking, and so, so sad ... OMP

R.I.P. - 17 untimely lost souls.

I thought of YOU immediately when I did this this morning OMP and I have to admit I grudgingly thought- "well hell, the guy knows of what he speaks" lol I wish I had tried it for a different reason. Your review of the sad fact that this will just be another in a horrifyingly long list that the government is unwilling to do anything about is spot on....and truly, the saddest thing of all. Thank you so much for your heart felt words re: that....and for making me smile there at the end. And the very special rating. I do really appreciate it all OMP. Heartfelt thanks from me.

Sad Face. Major Sad Face. And, I don't have an answer for it. Gun laws won't help. Criminals just break them. Mental health help? Well, they have to be identified and submit to the treatments. I have no idea. Run away to an island and bury my head in the sand? Not in my personality. This was horrible.

Enough lamenting. This is lovely. Deserving of highest marks. Well done.

Do you know Paul that I thought those EXACT same things when I heard about this last night. Like you, I have no answers....and honestly, THAT is what is the saddest thing of all. Even living here where I do....in my own little paradise I cannot escape the horror I feel each and every time his happens....so yes my friend, Major Sad Face. Thank you so much for looking....commenting....and being so generous.

Totally agree and applaud you for calling it out in your notes. Of course your flower is beautiful with or without color, yet with how you have presented it here, the sorrow emanates out from it in a extremely affecting way. Because of its innate beauty may it also bring out hope for healing and change.

aww dear Ed. I looked for a sad flower this morning. Difficult b/c I never look at my flowers w/ those kind of eyes...but yes, THIS one had all the qualities you mention in your really moving review. Thank you so much for seeing it exactly as I hoped it would be seen....and, of course for rating it so wonderfully.

So touching, Deborah. I was so saddened to hear the news yesterday of yet another school shooting in your country and your image here is certainly in keeping with this.

I like how you've shown the beautiful flower also looking sad, without colour and with its petals curled inwards. Very dramatic image against the black background. Excellent composition. Suzanne

Thank you so much Suzanne. Seemed so wrong to remove color from one of my such beloved flowers yet the only way I could think of to express my sadness. Your review of it is just lovely....and I do really appreciate it.

Oh my goodness, this gives me chills, this is so well presented, it's a beautiful flower with petals curled to partially hide its center, removed of it's beautiful color, representing the loss of the young lives in a senseless tragedy.
