I love winter. I think I kind of fancy each season because each season serves a purpose and therefore to me is ever so inviting....like this Hill Bed of yours covered with a blanket or maybe two blankets of snow....
Snow....cold, white, even in the quiet of winter there is a sound comes through that I always look forward to hearing....
Dressed warm with boots, hat, mittens I would gladly take a long walk on a day like the day you show in your photo. First gingerly and then more brisk....nose running, cheeks red.....I love it. Today I miss the snow very much...am feeling somewhat melancholy; therefore I really appreciate you sharing with me what you saw through your lens....It would make for a great jigsaw puzzle or perhaps even the cover of an album filled with nothing but Christmas music. Thanks for sharing....By the way, from afar, your pooch could come across as a wild animal...a wolf perhaps...I like that (smile)!!!

Oh you're a doll for going and looking at this one Katharina....and thank you so much for the really nice review you've given it. Love the idea of this image being a jigsaw puzzle.....very cool idea. As for the 'wolf'....lol yes, she does. They do live around here...I hear them all the time but they are very secretive.

Hi Deborah, It's amazing how seasons change the look of a garden! Can't wait to see it Soring and Summer! I noticed your sweet Finnegan. Cute how she knows to stay off the flowers in Spring! Smart girl! Beautiful photo! Thanks for sharing!

This looks very much like a little area here in Anchorage out at Earthquake Park . In this lighting it almost looks like a black and white. I like the look of the dried grass poking out from the snow. Well exposed whites. German Shepherds are so intelligent, he just knows his mom doesn't want him to walk on the garden! I hope you will post this same scene again in summer! Well presented!

A really great example of winter beauty. Because I live where snow is rare, I envisioned four murals like this where I could stand in the middle and pretend- oh well, wishful thinking.

Beautiful life filled and by you text, life awaiting rebirth photograph. Love your sense of composition. The trees are the major point of focus, but they only occupy about one third of the picture space wedged between the grey sky above and the white snow below. Reasons for my five star vote.

This is a showing of nature on a day when there is no pageantry or real motion...but a stillness that hopefully is waiting patiently for Mother Nature to arrive and wake everyone up from their winter's hibernation.

The whites are that pre-spring gray..including the sky, which seems to be a whiter shade a pale... now I'll be singing that in my head all evening. :D But seriously, your colors...or lack thereof in this composition are exactly as the mood generally is when the last of winter is hanging on.

Each of your gardens has been placed artistically within the landscape that works best haven't they? You haven't forced much of anything to live where it shouldn't it seems. And Comanche is a smart girl. She knows where her Momma works so hard and wouldn't dare break off your blooms..

I like looking at this...the slope of the hill and the grouping of the trees and the brown grasses breaking up that snowy slope. A nice contrast of pure and smooth and natures textures! Well shot and a pleasure to view.

This review was such a treat dear Becky! You have no idea how much it brightened up my evening when I read it last night. I love that as a true gardener you see and understand where I put my beds.....it took me almost five years of living here before I put a bed in this spot....it needed REALLY big perennials. Anyway, you are just a doll for having a look at this one and thank you sooo much for sharing one of your gold stars w/ it. I appreciate it more than you know.

She clearly knows and remembers the geography of your garden! Your traditional composition offers us a nice winter view of that section. Exposure and sharpness are good. Nicely done!

This is a naturally black and white image as winter is wont to give us. A bit of brown in a tiny bit of places including on Finnegan? German Shepherd? Nice composition. Well framed. Sharp image. Thank you for sharing and best of luck with this image

This is a wonderful shot of nature. You have timed it well. The light and shadows, the faint trace of colours and the composition have worked out well. Good effort!

Deborah,
A beautiful picture of your Hill Bed with Finnegan walking carefully around the perimeter of the beds as she knows she must do when the flowers are in bloom. Beautiful composition framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.
