This is an amazing shot of a beautiful critter. I love the composition. Your cropping, DOF and lighting are spot. You can also make out every blade of grass, spot of the hide and the texture of the horns.
Great job on this.

A very good presentation of this farm animal and particularly like the body position of this fella which draws my attention more than of it were standing straight.Great structure and certain l detail to the image

I love the unusual pose you captured here showing the long horned bull smelling the weeds, wondering whether to chew. I bet they can do a lot of damage with those wonderful horns. Very good lighting and focus. Good luck in the contest. Suzanne

I love nature and the beauty it gives for us to admire. The part about this photo I love the most is how you did not miss a moment of his life. The horns express the wisdom of this animal and you can see the tenderness you captured that most don't see in animals of this strength. Wonderful work!!

Thanks I used a 55-200 mm lens. 100% natural move of this bull. He stopped to twist around to smell what looks to be a weed with a flower on it. I just happened to be in the right position at the right time to get this angle.

Hi there and thanks for sharing this delightful snap shot of the long horned bull smelling 'the weed'.. That really made me laugh. Cattle can do the strangest things... Your photo is taken at the best angle to really capture the action .. and such clarity .. Those horns are beauties.. and as long as they are not heading straight for me, I find them rather amazing features on top of this bull's head.. obviously used for fighting if necessary ... What a stance this bull has.. I am checking out his left front leg.. the position of it is rather odd. . as if he doesn't know if he should lie down and really enjoy that weed or just remain standing. His markings are rather extraordinary. those big brown patches on his side mingled amongst the many small splashes of colour that spread over the rest of his hide. Of course his head remains pure brown in keeping with the breed.. I can see his tail is relaxed and not swishing around too much flicking off flies or other annoying lodgers which often take a free ride on their backs. He really looks like he has a pleased look in his eyes. the weed obviously smells ok. but one wonders if it is good enough to devour. The paddock in which he grazes doesn't seem to have much lush grass at this time ... which may indicate it could be winter .. I can see the occasional rock in the distance .. presumably the pasture has been cleared for grazing purposes.. great balance makes this bull the centre of attention here, and the excellent lighting brings out the best in his speckled coat..
There is a saying.. that a weed is just a plant growing in the wrong place.. so just maybe, we can excuse him from sniffing on a weed this time. Perhaps its in the right place at the right time.. Thanks for sharing this awesome capture. gave me a good giggle and brings back lots of funny cattle memories I have from having lived on property myself. A true pleasure to review. cheers mel Best of luck in the contest.

Wow love your take on this photo. I?m so happy I got a laugh from you. I laughed too when I saw him twist around to smell the weed. It was the right place at the right time. I saw these bulls and I stopped on the side of the road and hurried over to the fence and snapped a few photos and just when I was about to turn aroun I saw this particular bull stop and twist his head around. I took a photo and then he was smelling this weed and I took another. It was quite fun to takes the photos I got. I did get a few and pretty much all turned out except one. Thanks so much.

Very interesting photo. A very striking animal. Dominating rear end certainly makes the usual animal picture much more interesting. Almost looks like the head was added. Composition, clarity, colors all work nicely together. Good work.
