Wow! That is bright! Where's my sunglasses? LOL; great looking flower; looks like it's in good shape and ready to shout how happy he is; good focus; like the grass and greenery to make the bloom stand out; good lighting; take care.

LOL...it IS looking like it's sitting there shouting about being happy swimmer! You are a dear for going and having a look at this one. Thank you so much....and for the bit of sunshine you added to this hot pink beauty too...lol I thank you for that as well.

Nice capture of the flower. The colors seem unreal and bright but I know they do come in all color tones. I think yu have captured the blossom and flower well, and the background is a suitable base for the picture. What bothers me is the seeming disconnect with the flower . It seems just pasted in with no connection or support. I would suggest cropping it down so that the blossom comes out of the lower right corner which could add some interest and allow for the stem support to be implied, of course that is just what I would do and may not fit your vision for the shot.

Do appreciate your thoughtful reviews Charles. You're right though....was looking for this one w/o the lanky stem....wanted that great shot of color against the background gardens. Thank you for having a look...and for the thought you put into it.

Great use of that soft lighting which really makes this vibrantly colored daisy pop against the intense green background. Your image is very well focused with great detail especially in the flower's glowing golden center.Makes me long for warmer weather, that's for sure! LeeAnn

Very welcome-are you getting any snow from that nor'easter yet?

OMG am I LeeAnn. Got over 2' yesterday and last night. Posted a piece this morning of my large German Shepard fighting her way through it.....sigh.....pretty sick of snow.

Composition, clarity, contrast all good. Depth of field is also good, allowing the flower to stand out nicely. Might be a bit flat. Just not crazy about the flower itself....subject. Flower is on the wane, with the pollen covering leaves. Just prefer a more vibrant, alive flower.

OK fritz- please let me explain something. You are NOT supposed to rate an image on whether or not you LIKE the subject. That's a real NO NO!! Not sure how much you know about flowers but this specimen is NOT on the wane. This is the color EXACTLY as it was in my gardens....and happens to be as vibrant as a Painted Daisy can be. Now I have no problem w/ being docked points- just NOT b/c the reviewer doesn't happen to like the subject. Anyway, there's a very good section re: how to review under community (Q&A) in your header. Read your first sentence and a half and then look at rating.....doesn't make much sense does it??

Actually, I gave the picture a 4.5 because I thought it looked a little flat, without sharp focus. Perhaps I should have made that clearer. I also think 4.5 is still a good rating. I know that anything below 5 here seems low---I've felt that pain...chuckle. But, I also know that many photos on FAR are vastly overrated, with many undeserved 5's. It's sort of a "you give me a five, I'll give you a five" mentality here, and if you don't, expect a lower rating on your next post. I think FAR is a fairly good site, but it's rating system has somehow created very high feedback expectations, along with many inflated egos.

My ego is fine fritz. Just wanted to make sure you know we don't knock points off b/c we don't like the subject. Common sense there. As for image being flat.....like I said- you've probably never even see this flower.

Oh btw....'flat' means something very different than not crisp or sharp. You'll figure out the lingo though once you're here a bit longer.

Wow, this pink is truly HOT!
Such an incredibly bright shade and wonderfully shown in this gorgeous daisy. The yellow center really accents this magically, and adds to its wonderful appealing color.
I'm sure they are magnets for butterflies in your gardens.
I think pink is one of my favorite colors and the more vibrant the better. This bloom is just beautiful and a real pleasure to view.

Of course i like the name "painted daisy" and I definitely like the beautiful vibrant flower. I love the color combination of the petals and center of this bold and magnificent daisy.
The blurred background really helps the vibrant pink hues yellow center pop.
Nicely accomplished!
