Such a beautiful, vibrant piece! The colors explode and offer not only texture but tactile stimulation. I really like the contrast of the greenery, the leaves, behind the petals, which adds dimension along with qualities of light and dark. This piece truly embodies "Mother's Day," thanks so much for sharing it!

An eye catching image. The colors are beautiful and the technique is well executed. I like the tight composition but might do without the flower in the upper left corner.

Hi Suzanne , wow what a fabulous display of colour and joy.. thanks for sharing your story about the flowers from your son. Hope you had a happy Mother's day.. You have done a splendid job recreating the flowers here on canvas.. stunning eye appeal that has a delightful feeling of freshness emanating from each of those beautiful blooms. You have definitely mastered use of your palette knife Suzanne. The features in each of the flowers is excellent. The centre throats extend out well to each of the petals , all individually shaped to add interest and appeal to the scene. I love the use of the white highlights .. gives the petals great texture and accentuates the brighter colours well. The two mauve flowers on the left and right give excellent balance to the picture as does the use of green foliage .. both offer excellent contrast to the three feature flowers that are the major focal points.. I particularly love that blue flower on the left. what stunning tones used to capture its hue. the colours are well blended together yet, still allow the eye to see the individual petals and the stamen in yellow protruding from its centre.. So much to take in. The dotted section on the left top section of the scene offers great variance and appeal.. Love the way you have used the feather to render varying lines throughout.. such a useful tool in the painting world.. I love it when my bird has a feather shed.. she gives me lots of tail feathers worthy of being used ... Fabulous show of flowers to remember this year's mothers day forever.. a delight to review. cheers mel

Thank you so much for your lovely detailed review. Yes, I had a lovely Mother's Day, thank you, spending most of it with my youngest son and my two youngest grandchildren, ending up playing with PlayDo with them! My eldest son lives down South and my daughter in Australia so they both sent presents and they ring me every day which is lovely. Suzanne

This is a very lovely painting. Did you use acrylics or oils? I love the vibrancy of the colors and the textures. Great placement of the flowers. Thank you for sharing.

Many thanks for your lovely review. I actually used very cheap liquid poster paints as an experiment for this and it was fun. Suzanne
reply by Beautyobserver on 15-Mar-2018
Wow. I would of never guessed. I've never used poster paints before. What type of paper did you use and did the poster paints stay on it okay?
reply by the author on 15-Mar-2018
I used a primed canvas board for this and the paint stayed on well. I used the poster paint quite thick, as it came out of the tube. It's not like the powder poster paint we used in school when I was little.

I may have to try that method. It sounds like it's a fun way to do art.
