I think this portrait of a goldfinch is just perfect in every way. Truly a six star candidate that I don't have to give. Love the composition, color and subject. I think it is a wonderful contest entry.

You have done a spectacular job of photographing this American Goldfinch. They move fast in my state (Missouri) but yours looks like he posed for you! Yellow can be a challenging digital color to get right but you DID. Your focus is perfect, the feathers have nice detail, and the uncluttered background and branch all add interest.

This is a beautiful photo and the striking bird looks so good against the simple background and foreground of the photo. The plumage of the bird is well refined. I really can't think of anything I would change. I love the highlights and the shading your camera has shown. A lovely piece of photograph, all in all.

What a lovely entry for this contest. Your focus is pin sharp. The posture you captured him in is really a nice view. Your crop creates a really nice composition. I love the Topaz de-noise tool. It worked great on this image. Good luck in the contest.

Beautiful capture of a male Goldfinch. Focus is tack sharp, you have a catch-light in the bird's eye . The sunflower seed in it's beak. Color is on the money the color of the blurred background is complimentary to the subject as allow the bird to "pop". Good use of the rule of thirds. Good luck in the contest.

Very good entry for the contest. Lovely close up of this pretty male Goldfinch with the seed clutched in his beak as he perches on the branch. The soft green background works very well to show him off. Very good lighting and focus showing great detail in his feather markings. Good luck in the contest. Suzanne

Lovely capture of this bird and the colours here that shine through. The expression is awesome and the background works well to make the bird pop. Good lighting and overall great job

amazing colours on this bird. I take it normally they are brown or grey, and this occurs for mating or the sun appearing? His claws are fantastic, to think he hangs onto the tree with those slender claws and it carries his weight.
