I love the look on birds faces, infact on most animals faces. I really began noticing it when I was at Art college, because I found so many of us humans have the same look, honestly!! I draw a lot of humans, life drawing and city around me. This character also has a strong beak and a strong stare!

This is such an excellent portrait of an eagle. Didn't realise they had such brilliant yellow beaks and yellow around the eye.
You have captured an amazing look/pose and incredible details. Such clarity and very good lighting, A pleasure to view!

He is quite striking. I like the way the background meets the feathers and looks so natural. I'm still trying to perfect this method. Instead of looking quizzical he looks more proud. Like there was not contest in his mind, he was the winner. The lighting is perfect as well.

The real Key to this entry is that you combined two dramatic elements into one for the contest. As an entry for the "Yellow" contest, that beak jumps right out and Demands attention. At the same time the dynamic look of this magnificent bird commands the spotlight one it's own.
For me THIS is the type of entry that will set the standard for the contest.

The Eagle has a quizzical expression. The bird seem curious about something. The eye is especial impressive. The feathers show intriguing refinement. The realistic colors are emphasized by the dark background. The portrait is balanced and adequately framed.

I have to give you a 'virtual 6' for this one as I'm all out (I hate doing that). This is a magnificent closeup and the black background certainly brings out the bright yellow in his beak. I'll bet he's hoping for a nice fresh fish for the prize!
