This beautiful bird should get a big prize, I think. It's a very fine piece of photography and it looks like a painting to me. Everything shows up very well in this photo: his eyes, the feathers, his beak. I like the black background because it really showcases this bird to perfection. Keep up the good work! Looks like a beautiful bird. I really like the close view of his face. You captured very nice detail of his eye. The color of his beak really jumps out with this pose.

I am not reviewing this for its entry-worthiness of the contest, since I feel that should be a separate judging altogether. But based on the photo itself....wow! This is an amazing shot with incredible timing and your skills shine with this shot. The black background enhances every detail. I think if I were so inclined, I would be able to count each feather. Stunning. I don't see a look quizzical look, I see a look of pride. I don't think even taxidermy would be able to capture this life like appearance. But as I wrote this and looked back at this shot, the thought crossed my mind...is this taxidermy. But I see slight reflection in his eye and a brightness that I think only a real eye...live eye would have. Your focus is showing such crisp detail. Even the 3D details of his bill/beak: his nostril, slight line separating upper and lower beak and how the smoothness from the tip up, rises up to meet his face. I can go on, but won't. Perfect.

Excellent shot of this eagle and although the beak is part of the whole shot it is yellow and therefore counts,only thought with this is maybe a vertical format would have made for a better overall image..Brian
