I like how you have cropped out everything except The "Prince". Being so close seems a bit scary, but trading apples for the pose paid off. Nice Job!!

Hi Jim.. These Bison have a lot of Whiteface & Angus in them so they are pretty docile. I was about 6 yards from him. As long as I rolled an Apple at him frequently he was cool.

Thank you I'm glad you liked the post ... Bob

Bob it was an honor to do the video announcing your recognition. Always enjoyed your work. Im familiar with bisons alright. I was stationed at Ft sill in the army. Large herd of buffalo at the wildlife refuge next to the base. Cool capture. The clarity is great. The angle of the frontal shot of this bison is great. The capture of the light is great. The presentation is balance and eye appealing to the viewer. Great eye and awesome work overall.

HI Bob, This is one in your face image! This buffalo really looks massive though you call them bison. The head is absolutely HUGE! Glad he seemed on the friendly side. Lighting is pretty good though the left side is a little dark. Focus isn't bad at all. Love how you framed the face. Not a bad presentation at all! Enjoyed seeing this close-up shot! :o) Nancy

Hi Nancy.. It seems like I am always battling with less than desirable lighting - but I keep trying.

I think bad lighting plagues us all! All we can do is try! :o)

Great photograph Bob! You have a courage to feed this animal and taking this spectacular pictures. When I encountered this large bison in front of the hotel in Yellowstone, I did not take any until I was safe inside the cabin.
Great details, natural colors on his coat and overall pleasing presentation!

Hi Jirina.. I would not attempt to do this with the plains variety. They are not anywhere near as docile as these almost domesticated Eastern Bison are. This guy was cool as long as I had an Apple every now and then.

I'm glad you liked the post. Thank you, for the excellent review and rating!... Bob

What a glorious beast this is! You captured him with great clarity, I feel I could almost reach out and touch his coat, which despite being a bit bedraggled, still looks soft and curly. I'm glad he got rewarded with an apple for posing so nicely for you!

An Apple Christine? I had a shoulder bag with a dozen. I ended the shoot when I had one left for a fast get away if needed. He followed me all the way to the gate so I gave him the last one - I think I found a friend.

Thank you so very much for great review and rating. I am glad you liked the post ... Bob

Hi Suzanne.. He was very amenable to having his portrait taken as long as Apples were forthcoming on a frequent basis.

Bob,
A beautiful portrait of this handsome American Bison bull the light sparkling in his eyes while highlighting his horns & his dark wooly pelt. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.
