This is pretty cool!
I don't advocate pipe smoking or anything silly like that but I realize tobacco was very important economically in states like North Carolina in days gone by so seeing this interesting photo is just, like, really enjoyable!
'Good Show',my friend!

Yes that was or is a big thing here in NC, but I appreciate your review. JackJr.

You did a fine capture of this old-looking water tower. The rust in the bottom of it is actually rather pretty in its presentation. The background complements it well. Best wishes in the contest.

I remember Dr. Grabow ads were everywhere back when. Their niche in the market was that their pipes had been pre smoked - "Dr. Grabow pipes are pre-smoked so the flavor is already burned in!", or so the advertisement read.

This is an interesting piece as it stands. The color is authentic and perhaps a bit over saturated. I like the vignette it lends an appropriate air of age. Careful not to over extend the vignette.

A word of advice, the first thing that a contest committee member is gonna see is a tilted image and that will cause him/her to move on. It makes not difference if it really is tilting because the judges don't know that - if you want any kind of a shot straighten the take, keep the vignette and good luck... Bob

I learned how to straighten it out and I hope that it did it some justice, Thanks for the advice and thanks for the review. JackJr.

An interesting picture of the rusting Water Tower in Sparta advertising Smoked Pipes. Standing out in sharp contrast to the grey skies. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

Good observation and good capture of the rusted water tank showing the extreme rust. You have framed it well. The light and shadows, colours and composition have worked out well. Good luck!

A good looking image posted here into the competition posted here! Your fine and dramatic composition grants us a good luck at that tower. Saw many such towers during my trips into the states during the last few years. Nicely done!

unique structure for sure and yes hope they don,t tear it down and again it is a tad rusty,my only thought with this is i think a vertical shot would have worked bet for this but i do like its character...Brian

Interesting and unique photo presented here.bit looks like the artist dribbled paint over the structure to create a wonderful visual. I love your muted background which adds dimension to this piece. Well done!!

Great photo. Has a nice old school vibe. I love that you gave the backstory in the description. I could see this on a tee shirt. Love the violet accents.
