This is a very clever capture, artist friend. It does appear, kind of, that the bird is pondering this. You are so witty. This is so well captured, as you usually do. Congratulations on your win in the reflections contest. Glena

I appreciate the way that you have captured this gray Heron 's personality in this one. You have captioned it well!
The reflection is really cool. That always adds so much to an image to be able to capture a reflection in the water. Great job!

Charlotte, this Grey is definitely pondering. The dead give away is when he put his claw in such a position while balancing on one leg. The clarity and reflection make this shot. You have done a fine job with this shot. Ray

Charlotte,
A magical picture of of your juvenile Grey Heron scratching it's chin while appearing to be admiring it's reflection on the water it's standing in. Beautiful composition framing and lighting taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus.

Hi Charlotte, I think the heron knew you were going to take a picture and was checking it's make-up! LOL Love the gentle ripples in the water. I think it gives the reflection a special unique look. The shot has great lighting and focus. I thin the shot is very cool! You easily deserved six stars for this but my pockets are empty! Love the shot! :o) Nancy

Ha ha it really does look like he?s checking out how he looks doesn?t it! Perhaps we don?t give wild creatures enough credit and they do use their reflections as mirrors!
Thank you so much for your virtual six Nancy, that?s good enough for me :)

So beautiful Charlotte!
The moment you captured here with the slight adjustment of the black background is perfect for this presentation and an excellent contest entry. Best of luck!

This gray heron was actually using the water as its mirror. I like the prominent natural colors as well as the clarity of patterns of the wings and its textures. The portrait frame fits well and the dark background made a nice contrast with the gray colors of this heron. Well captured.

Reckon he is wondering what that white thing is on his wing? Fluff or feather?? Your fine and full composition offers us an enjoyable view of that lovely bird and its reflection. Nicely done!

    Thanks for your review Nikman.
I?d thought it was just the under-feathers poking through, but Susan has said it?s a juvenile, so I?m now presuming it must be some of the down he?s yet to lose.

Nice timing to capture the heron as it scratches its cheek, the heron is well placed within the frame and I like the vertical format and the reflection.
Well focused, this image is clear, exposure is good, colors and tones appear natural.
The darkened water works well to emphasize the bird. I like the clear eye !
Well composed and presented!
